Tiger Moth Photo Contest

This should be interesting.

Join in on the Tiger Moth Photo Contest.

HERE ARE THE RULES....

1. Photos submitted should be of a GWS Tiger Moth taken in flight.

2. In flight photo should be taken by the pilot. NO CHEATING with a helper.

Exception to rule number one. You can post a photo of the remains(carnage) of your TM on the ground if you were not successful in flying and taking photo at the same time. (splat)

Everyone is a WINNER who successfully gets an image of their airplane in flight and gets it posted. LOOSERS are those unfortunate enough to slam into the side of their house, car, tree, ground while trying to focus.

Helpful hints:

Only attempt during no-wind conditions. Make a practice approach or two as slow as possible. Use your trim to hold it straight and level.

BE CAREFULL! Only attempt in a wide open area.

The following is my best attempt....guess I'm the first winner?

Good luck to all!

Do old pictures count or only ones after the post? Here's one from 11-20-01.

I used the rest of the pictures from that day to make my avatar. And no, I didn't take them all in the same pass.

While taking these pics I lost the plane in the viewfinder and found it again just in time to watch it crash into a tree. I was too slow to snap it before the tree threw it down and broke the prop. New prop and back up for more pictures.

I swear those trees move when you're not looking.

Who Won?

Hey, Kansascloud..

Who won the contest? I'm in a hurry for my new Tiger Moth.

Mine now weighs a ton (no, not metric) because of all the epoxy on it. It has had all four wings ripped right off of it, propeller gashes in the horizontal stab from a mid-air in Florida, cowling cracked into a dozen pieces, and now sporting its 3rd set of wheels, two windscreens, a pilot, flying wires, and a steerable tailwheel.

Now that I know how to do all those mods, I'll incorporate them into the building of my BRAND NEW ONE!!

Darn thing weighs a ton and still flies great. Money well spent.

Happy Flying.

Gary

P.S. Here's another of my entries, just in case you haven't picked a winner yet.

Moth Wheels

Spinnetti,

"Great Planes" 1 inch tailwheels. I had to solder a brass tube extension onto the stock gear strut .

And a simple crimp keeps 'em on.
