Hi Witstick, I just recently started flying a CM. IMHO it's a fantastic flyer. I'm using it as an aileron and aerobatic trainer and it's working well. learning a lot and have only crashed twice (so far).

I covered the entire fuse with clear packing tape and did not use the decals. Also used tape for the hinges instead of the decal sheet.

The only problem areas for me are the landing gear and wing mount. I reinforced the bottom of the firewall with two triangles of popsicle stick and still had a lot of trouble with the gear bending back so added a wire brace to the gear legs. It might be from ROG and landing on grass. A smooth surface would probably not bend it so much. Also using HL 2-3/8" Lyt wheels.

The wing mount is pretty flimsy, I crunched it bad in the second mishap. I've added plastic doublers inside the rear, a cf rod across the back and some plastic strips along both sides of the mount. Much better now. Also cut a hole in the side and added a plastic spoon for an air scoop and cut (broke) out the back for cooling.

After bending the fuse I put some .070 cf rods in the upper corners inside the fuse from front to back.

Using a FMA Extreme5 with 2 Picos and 2 HS50 servos, a Pixie 20 esc. And 2/3A 800mah MH 8 cell packs, have some 5/4 AAAs on the way, should fly even better with 1-1/2 ounces less weight.

Good luck,

BC

Hi witstick, BC;

I fly a CM also. It is one crash old! It's a fun plane.

As BC said, tape the entire fuse. I don't like hinges with tape on only one side. Dirt will get in. I used clear tape on both sides. The wing mount is flimsy. I recommend doublers from the start. It is harder to install them after you crinkle the mount. Make sure your wing dowels are defect free. I replaced mine with 1/4" dowel (overkill) after one broke in a crash. Jstory lost one in flight. Not good.

I'm using 8 cell 720 and 700 AAA NiMH packs. 5/4 AAA are recommended, but apparently are hard to find. Goldmine has 700's for a buck a piece.

Great Planes C30 ESC is providing power for 4 H-55 servos.

I set all throws like it says in the manual. Works great on mine!

Good Luck!

Witstick,

The CM is a great plane. I've been flying slimers (glow engine) for over 10 years and fun-fly planes for 3 of those years. The Crazy Max is very comparable to a slightly underpowered slimer fun-fly. It does all the tricks, except flat spin so far. It is fast and slows down really well when you back off the throttle.

Please take the suggestions and beef up the wing mount. It will save you some frustration and propably will fly better. I'm not sure, but that could throw off the wing incedence from the horizontal stab.

So far that I've seen on this board, BasketCase has the longest (posting) experience on this plane and probably the most flight time. I'm only at 6 flights on mine so far. Please take any suggestinos and warnings he may give.

Hope you enjoy flying yours,
Rob
