Must see Hobby shops in Atlanta
I will be in ATlanta next weekend for business and was wondering if there are any shops that I should go to while in town? Anything exciting happening that I should know about? Staying on the south side of town below the airpport at the Sheraton Gateway.

Winwash,
Is the Hobby Stop still there? That was a great shop when Tom and co. owned it, but a few years ago it changed ownership. I moved to the Lawrenceville area, and then some years later to NC, but that place always(back then) had the best selection and prices in the area, and were never out of the parts you needed, it seemed. Mike, stop in there, if they are still around!! Later, David |

The Hobby Stop is still there.
I would not call it a "must see" for e-flight. However, they carry quite a few Hobby Lobby kits, Dare, GWS, Soarstar, Zagi and a few other kits. The accessories are getting better. No brushless systems except for a stragling Jeti or so.... I second Mike (winwash). You should come to the field...it's about 12 minutes from your hotel. Take I-85 south to the "Peachtree City / Fairburn exit" (Hwy 74) This is the third exit outside of I-285. Go left off the exit... 1.8 miles on the left is Thompson Rd. Go left on Thompson Go to end of road. If gate is locked, no one is there. Saturday and Sunday afternoons are always active. Come join us.. Regards, Jeff |

Yeah, come join us.
There is no good electric flight hobby store in Atlanta. Hobbytown in Kennesaw (Town Center Mall) - usual rip-offs - they sell some stuff now but it's way overpriced. Also The Hobby Shop is right next to the same mall - small mom-and-pop store, little to no electric stuff. National Hobby in Smyrna is great for glow stuff - best prices in town - competes with Tower on price - and for transmitters and such, but very little electric (a couple of park flyers and speed 400 motors, that's it).. Hobby Stop has some stuff, but I've only been there twice. They are down in Peachtree City nearer our field than the others, however! We're 10 minutes South of Harstfield, fwiw.. ..a |
