Landing Approach

http://rcgroups.com/gallery/showphot...cat=500&page=1

Just a little video I took, this is the return from a long-distance flight up the street, towards my house. The aiptek was mounted between the landing gear, looking down enough to not see the prop. The end is the usual downwind leg and turn to final I fly, touching down on the oval coming towards me. (approx. flight path below) Anyone else have any neat approaches, video or otherwise??

Nice - About how high and how far away did you actually fly?

Peter.

Wow - I need to work on getting some altitude like that. Still a bit nervous to let the plane get too far away, but would make for some great pictures.

Nice video. Which Aiptek were you using? How big was the video file?

Nice work.

Thanks for the compliments, this flight was from my slowstick, which is powered by a Himax 2025-4200 brushless motor in a D gearbox, phoenix 25 ESC, 12X8 prop, 8 cell kan 1050 NiMh battery. This was taken by the Aiptek Pencam 1.3 with 128mb SD card. The video actually looks alot better than that, but was compressed from the original size of 28,543 KB. I used the low resolution video, as the frame rate is slightly higher and easier to watch.

I was never that nervous about letting it fly too far away. Actually the first time I flew down the street I just thought I was alittle beyond the end of the field, but when I downloaded the pics I was amazed at how far away the plane was. It never really is that difficult, I can always see the plane, and am always high enough to glide back to the field.
