DC-3 / C-47 very scale prop-hub set up

Good evening guys,

We ( e-flightline hobby ) have special VarioProps with 2mm hubs and 6.2" scale blades to help make your DC-3/C-47 look and fly very scale.

Here are a few pix of the set up. We should have a video posted tomorrow.

Have a great evening.

Very nice.
Are we talking the Speed 400 motors here?
May have to switch to these for my DC-3

Nope,

you can use any 2mm shaft motor. We have had the varios on both the stock can motors and the pix you see it flying with are twin Himax 2015-3600. We are about using 1/3 of the total pitch available. So you wanted to push more amperage with a bigger pack you could but it flys better than scale now and has over 20 minute flight times.

Looks like a winner! How did it fly with the stock setup? Is this a plane better suited to brushless motors?

Nice Props! Can you tell me what the Amp draw is with these props on a 2S lipoly with the stock motors?

Thanks

Good day guys,

The plane flys ok with the stock set up but we wanted long flight times and just a bit more power.

With the vario's you dial in your pitch so you can match your battery pack and ESC.

We have them set up now to draw 9 amps on each motor.

We flew on both the stock and brushless let up with this props. We just needed to dial in a bit more pitch with the brushless to get us where we wanted to be the stock set up flew well too with this set up.

Splash,

Just ordered my Varioprops for the DC3 from your website. Sweet!

Noticed on your site that your DC3 is running 6x4 3 bladers. What pitch are you guys running with the Varioprops? Mine will be stock build, stock motors, ETEC 1200 2S2P (very similar to yours, by the look of things).

Cheers,
Mick

I too just ordered some, and will be flying stock motors initially.
Just dial in the appropriate pitch to match the battery pack, i.e. most any pitch should be adeqaute to fly?

Good day guys.

We are using the 6.2" blades and the pitch is about 1/3 of the available pitch (lots of room to move up) It flys very scale and I need to get the video up.......I promise later today to get it posted.

Since you asked. Once again...

Is there a bolt-on 3 blade setup for a std. IPS shaft?

No is an acceptable answer. But, any response will acknowledge that you read the question....

I know a lot of folks using 3 blades on IPS. Try Hobby Lobby.

Hah! That is a neat 3-blade for IPS at Hobby Lobby. I know GWS makes a 9x7 3 blade too. I'm looking for something to bolt on to a CD ROM outrunner conversion that uses a 3mm threaded IPS shaft. The variprop setup is not cheap and I don't want to get into something that is going to require additional adaptors or require the replacement of the shafts on the CD ROM motors. If they don't just "bolt on" then it is a lot cheaper and less hassle to cut down some 9x7 blades to "fit".
