First time on an RC airfield.

And It was cool..

There was one plane that suffered from a suden burst of gravity, but that was the only casualty while I was there..

Here are a couple pics..

The guy I went to meet, was flying a Hangar 9 Twist.. Seemed like a really agile, capable aircraft. He was doing hovers, and wing-overs.. I cant wait to get that good

Face has been obscured as I didnt have a model release.

Got the chance to talk with him, said his RX batt died. Post crash, he measured his RX batt at 1.4V while under load.

Said at like 100ft, plane wouldnt respond, and 50% throttle dive into the riverbank

Just a reminder, charge those RX batts!

The guy that helped to teach me to fly (it took a village ) said something I'll never forget....

I was used to flying electrics and had went to glow as well. He told me to remember that I can put all of the fuel I wanted in the plane but it still took electric to make it work. i.e. - CHARGE YOUR BATTERIES AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE STILL CHARGED.

I learned it well.

My first instructor (who didn't teach me much) did teach me one very important thing that I remember to this day:

If you can't afford to crash 'em, ya better not fly 'em.

Same here i like to take off and fly around i just dont want to land it. I am still scare from the first crash back in April everytime i fly i get scare of landing.

Depending on your surroundings where you fly, you might be able to try this idea to help build some confidence landing. Find a visual line parallel to your landing strip. Maybe the horizon, a distant power line, etc. Something that is visually above where you need to land. Practice "landing on that line". Do your approach to the landing strip, but higher in the air so that you are approaching that parallel line visually, and try to "touch down" on that line without going through it. Make a couple of passes like that, then fly clear of it for a few minutes, and you'll be more ready to land. It helped me out, and the ground effect just made my landings even softer.

how ironic on your first day at the field you saw a crash on my first day i saw a crash to you said he crash by battery dieing same here that what you call amazing.

Same here... First time out to the field this guy had a 1/4 scale P-47. Beautiful, fully detailed cockpit, rivets and panel lines (knowing the person now I don't believe he actually built it, but probably bought it from someone else). Anyway, he took off and got it up about 20 feet, rolled over on it's back and splattered all over the runway. Totally destroyed the plane.

At my club I was doing a buddy box practicing approaches, and over the trees (Forest preserve!) the RX batt died and the club trainer spiraled into the woods, I dont know if they found it yet. Charge your batts!

I charge my batt every night before i go flying weather it needs it or not i charge it all night.
