Ian, as far as I recall the Falcon came out in the late 1940s; I understand that it was based on, or a copy of, a design, the name of which escapes me, from the late 30s in the US. I think it was a ben shereshaw design but couldn't be 100% sure.

Here's part of a KK ad from the back cover of Aeromodeller September 1946 and is the first mention of the Falcon kit I have come across.

Design was based on the Shereshaw Cloud Cruiser.

No photos at the moment but the fin/rudder is complete and two sides have been framed up. I cut 3/8square balsa strips down to 5/16" square with my dremel table saw. It's the first time I've had it do something really well.

the new zealand vintage lists list the KK falcon in 1949

OK here's a few photos of the progress (forgot to photogragh the tail - next time)...

I have a December 1946 Aeromodeller mag. here that on page 68 the FALCON, COMPETITOR, SCORPION, JUNIOR 60, AJAX AND ACHILLES are all advertised.
The FALCON it says won at Eaton Bray in September 1946......so '46 it must be.

FWIW the AJAX and ACHILLES go back pre WW2. '38 I think from memory, without looking it up.

Does anyone know where you can purchase electronic DT's (or get plans to assemble one)?

On the subject of electronic DT's I bought a couple from Airtek - tiny and light they are.

The next step is to sheet the front! More wood!!
