Excellent Julian - great job. Another beauty in the air. Obviously no shortage of power. Beautiful flying field you have too, much nicer than the desert I have to fly in.

Definitely no shortage of power, flies at third to half throttle quite happily.
We are very lucky to have an airfield in amongst paddocks with no one to upset with noisy planes!
Just so happens that one of the club members was filming with his quadrocopter, you can see the Falcon landing and taking off. El Presidente was doing a maiden flight on the rather large yellow cub, and showing off his one wheel landings!

Added more downthrust to 3 deg , that seems to have cured the climb with throttle.
Flies like a dream now.

I think I should add a bit extra downthrust to mine too as mine climbs a lot under throttle.

More Progress

Still plugging away at the Falcon as time allows between work and other projects. Here are some shots of the progress so far on the fuselarge, and my method of dealing with the cabin area uprights using spruce and balsa. Seems to have worked fine.

Looking great Chris. I agree that the enhancements to the cabin will be worthwhile - the structure sees a lot of stresses there.

The Falcon has flown at last

It weighed in at just over 8 lbs with ASP80 FS up front. Despite having 3 mini servos at the back no ballast was required, I've even got the battery on the COG. It took off without any rudder correction required, but needed a lot of down elevator to prevent excessive climbing. I'm thinking about raising the rear edge of the wing to compensate. No rudder trim was required so side thrust must be spot on. It does reasonably large loops without screwing out. The landings are a bit bouncy though.
Shame about the yellow exhaust extension, but at least there was no oil on the plane after 3 flights. It is certainly not over-powered by an 80 FS

Congrats BB, that looks brilliant. Haven't had the chance to get mine back out but it is a climber too. My landings were also very bouncy but I put that down to too high an idel on my engine.

A beautiful achievement and very pleasing aerial photography. Congratulations.

One question. If the wing bands are one piece, what size are they? The largest I can find are 8 inches and thatís not big enough. So I am using 7-inch bands joined together with a Ĺ-inch split ring.
My model has been ready for some while but because of snow /rain /wind and overcast sky I am waiting for suitable weather to take photographs.

I've used 8-inch bands, I used 4. They are definitely not too short, no damage has been done to the wing. They need stretching first.
