T-Strike, a new pylon racer!

Hai there,
I never thought I could handle a pylon racer but I did it ... with the T-Strike for the first time! Great sensation...! After throwing it myself easely it speeded up along the field and I managed to keep it going, with very fast and speedy turns, almost felt like making horizontal loopings! Managed to round a tree twice with the plane out of sight in split seconds, wauwie this is real big fun .. Also landing this plane was easier than I thought because it slowed down quite a bit and enough to bring it back undamaged. Thank you Jan from S&D Modells, Netherlands for letting me try; my order goes together with this note on Ezone because I think more pilon pilots might want to know about this fast, very light and easy design.

I understand S&D MOdells will ship internationally.

Perhaps you could explain the striking resemblance to Adrenaline. However, the price is not bad.

You're right and I've even seen more planes that come close to this beautifull design. I guess it's a very succesfull plane..... . I understand though that the T-Strike, when compared, is very light and it's price sure is affordable to me.

Nice looking plane, and the price sure is right. I also thought that it looks like an a Adrenalin. Although, after looking at the rest of his web page, I see it has a sheeted wing.

Yes, this plane has balsa sheets on a foam wing, reinforced with glassfiber and carbon. That's why I think it's a good deal for such a nice design. Especially when you consider I was able to fly it while I normally fly those slowflyers

Come on guys... basically any S400 racer with a straight leading edge, rounded tips and a T-tail is going to look like an Adrenaline. Maybe I should be asking where the makers of the Adrenaline got their ideas? It looks an awful lot like my Banshee, which I designed in '95/'96. Ease up... what the world needs now is more kits... and more people willing to make them. I, for one, applaud S&D Modells for their efforts to bring a new kit to market, and at a reasonable price. Good job, guys!!

T-strike

Hello there,
I'm very glad everybody on this forum is so positive about our first kit.We
We tried to build a plane light enough to fly it with a speed 400 and also strong enough to fly it with for example a hacker 20L-15.
it had to fly easy and the landing speed must stay low.
We fly the T-strike on shows with a sp400 and the hacker brushless this summer.
The profile of the wing is MH30-thinned and the adrenaline uses a different profile.

Our second goal is to build modells designed by you,so if you have a design or modell to bring on the market, let us know!!

If you have a remark to make the T-Strike even better we also like to hear from you.

Greetings,
Jan Scholten

Sorry folks, did not mean to sound like a lawyer

I do agree we need sensibly priced pylon kits real bad here in Europe.

Jan, could you tell the wing area?
Would 700ARīs or even CP1300īs fit? N-3USīs surely?

Ideas..

I think the looks of a good pylon or F5B plane are heavily dictated by wind tunnel..both are built for serious speed with minimum drag. The problem, like Petri said, is getting these things. LHS hardly knows they exist..like the indoor models. We are always asking stuff probably most of the model airplane hobbyists have never seen. So welcome new pylon kits! Now, could it be a match for Stinger? If the N3-US cells fit in nicely, sure it is. Are You gonna sell a F5D kit soon?

If I did the math right, the price for the ARF of 100 Euros is about $89 US. That sure seems like a nice price for a pylon-like plane.

Can you or someone give us an idea of how much it would cost to ship it to the US?

Jan:

This is interesting,.... The designer (Adryan Dekkers) posted this 'new' design much more recently than this summer. In addition, I asked him for a write-up on how he did it to include in my next column. I had to wait for the prototype to test fly before he could finish it-I got it on 1-6-2002.

Everyone here saw his initial posts about the design. Check the archives....

Hi Dave,
Maybe Jan S. and Adryan D. are working together as S&D? Jan was also in that thread back in October, and they reported the first flight of the fiberglass kit in late October. I gave a few glass-molding tips to Adryan over e-mail in the past few months, as he was working hard to make the best quality parts he could.

I wish I had someone to work with so I could make kits... I just lack the motivation to get started. Besides, nobody wants a kit anymore... everyone wants ARFs... and I can't (or don't want to) compete with $120-$150 for a complete model. My time is worth more to me than that. I'd rather build for myself. Of course, maybe I'll change my mind in a couple months when I graduate...

Good luck guys!

S&D

Hi Mitch,Dave and Davidfee,

Mitch:I have to ask how much it would cost to ship it to the US,i will let you know.
Dave:When i say"this summer" i mean the summer of 2002.
and yes,Adryan is the designer of the fuselage and my job is building the wings.
If the offer to write about it in your column ,still is available we would like it a lot.
Davidfee:S&D stands for Scholten & Dekkers thats for sure, the kit is also as ARF deliverable.

Greetings,
Jan

The "D" in S&D

Too all.... just to explain, so there is no mistake

The first prototype of the T-Strike flew in oktober 2001
We've been changing (Jan S & Adryan D) and testing the model ever since that flight untill it was to our satifactory.
Because of all the time involved, Dave got the article on 01-06-02.

Here is some more info for Petri:

the wing area is 8.18dm2
fuselage circumference at wing LE is 160mm & TE is 145mm

Regards,
Adryan

p.s. Dave & David thanks again for all the help!!!
