You could call Jack at LEG and see if he will sell you some of his vacuum formed ones

Hi all here are some more pic's of my progress. I need to do some final sanding and shaping on the wing roots, cover the wings and get the tail attached. Of course install the radio equip. I emailed Jack about some exhaust stacks have not heard back I will try to call this week if I don't here from him. I"m also working on some wooden ones, maybe some made with tubing too. Right now my focus is to get it finished enough to fly next weekend.

Well I had a treat last Sunday. I got an invitation to go up to Ray's Shop. He has it set up nice and if he got any closer to fermin he would be able to fly from his backyard. He showed me his current project the X29 and help me with setting up the incidence on my P51. It was the same technique that TLFG had diagramed earlier in this thread. After that I took it back to my shop and set it all up again and glued the tail on. Here are some pic's of my shop

Actually if you believe this is my shop I have a nice slope in just west of San Pedro to sell you

These pic's were taken at my work on an inspection table we use to inspect parts used in flight controls for fullsize aircraft. For planes like the F16, F18, 777, 747, V22 and coming up soon the JSF and 7E7. I used the table (after hours of coarse) to duplicate what I learned from Ray.

Thanks Ray for helping me out.

Yes, Tim at least 5,000lbs. And flat to within .0001!!! I of course did not use all the tools on the table but the smaller hieght gage worked great for checking and leveling everyting out. I have the radio installed now and just need to glue in the hindges, cover the wings and some more paint. It should be ready to fly this weekend.

Do you mean the 5,000lb table?? LOL.

I'm working on it as much as I can. I trying to get it done for this weekend. I have a small glitch though. The rod I used for the elevator is flexing and will not do. I have a piece of round hardwood I'm going to glass to the rod to stiffen it up, should do the trick.

Bob,
it was a pleasure to help out, and I look forward to seeing it fly, though in all honesty you had a good grasp on the set up from following Brians diagram.

I would love to price a piece of granite, half that weight. and size. ::drool::

That is a good Idea. I will keep it in mind. I have already glued the hardwood to the existing rod and it looks like it will work well.

Thanks,

Ray, Drooling on the table is not allowed I wish I could get your tabel in my Garage. I would show a picture of my work space, It is just a small bench in the garage. But my wife thinks the garage is her personel storage area. I should charge her rent

Well I weighed the P51 today and it came out to 3.04lb or about 48.6oz. A little heavier than I had expected. I was thinking it would be about 38 to 44oz. It is balanced at 2.75 inches from the leading edge at the wing root. That is where the instruction say to start. I check the CG calculator and with exact aircraft dimensions it said 2.83 so I think this is a good place to start. I have 3oz in the nose. I hope the wind blows good this weekend I want to get it in the air. I have been so busy this week, Sunday will probably be the day.
