Looking for battery charger advice...

Hi there

I just ordered some new 8cell 3300 packs for my upgraded brushless Corona and have decided that I should invest in a better charger. I'm looking for a charger that can charge these pack, detect a "proper" Nimh peak, cycle packs if needed, most of my charging will be done at home - but field use would be nice, maybe the ability to charge two packs at the same time.

Anyhow - I'm looking for a charger in the $120 range.

Any suggestions - thanks Chris

I'm even open to the suggestion of two $60 chargers if they meet my needs.

Thanks

TRITON!

I own lots of chargers and the Triton is by far the best value on the market today.

Hi reconsidered for a long time before I broke down and got a triton, worth the money ($129.00)and does everyting, charges and discharges everything and for 10 bucks you get a temperature probe to attach to Li-poly batteries. My only complaint is the annoying buzzer that I don't know how to shut up.

chris,
I have a Astroflight 110 deluxe charger, I've used most every charger on the market, but the astroflight to me is the only way to go just connect the battery and set the volts that's it and I have always got a full charge out of every battery...

If your only going to be charging Nimh and Nicads I would say definitely go with the Piranha Digital Peak Charger from Tower Hobbies. At $50 it peaks out packs, doesnt need a power supply (you have the option to hook one up), a cinch to program, easy interface, and is really compact. I love this charger. It really has worked flawlessly. I think its a steal at this price. I would check this one out.

Misskimo,
I just bought the Triton a few days ago. It says it will charge up to 4 LiPo cells. My question is does it mean 4 in series? does parallel count or as along as you dont have more than 4s it doesn't matter how many P's you have?

Thanks

Yariv

4 cells in series. Parallel just increases your capacity so battery will take longer to peak.

BTW Triton gets my vote too. At that price you will not find anything better. But go up another hundred or so then you will be able to get German made Schulze or Orbits.

Just be aware the Triton only charges at 2.5 amps for lipos though. Yes it will do a 4s4p, but it will take 2.5 hours to charge a 6000ma battery.

With that I still recommend it, but the Schulze 330 is much better for another $50.

Moving to Batteries and Chargers.
