Just when I was going to get my first scale sailplane! I didn't need to see this!

First, this was (fortunately?) my model, but my friends....poor guy. As of today he has no idea what happened. He was flying it on our slope, it flew beautifully, low passes with full flaps and brakes extended, WOW. About 15 min into the flight at high altitude the plane just dropped in a spiral all the way to the ground.........BANG.....and that was it. The problem was the all the electronics were in bad shape after the crash so it was difficult to determine the cause of the crash. Dunno, maybe interference, batteries, bad rudder servo, who knows.....
Anyway, he's about to finish a new L-13 at 138".
