logo10 flying time?

Did anaybodu experiment the flying time of the Logo10 with fun 600-15 or fun 600-18 motors and 10 or 12 cells, from cruising and light aerobatics to heavy 3D?

thanks
Francois

Re: logo10 flying time?

Glen said he was getting 5-6 minutes with the 600-18 on 13 cells. He's running a very high headspeed so you should be able to duplicate the with 10-12 cells at a more sensible speed .

I just returned from the flying field, after snowing and raining on Saturday it warmed up to the low 40's with a very light breeze - perfect January flying weather! I got in 3 consecutive flights on my Logo 10 - 16 CP-2400's, Kontronik Tango 45-08, 22 tooth pinion, 600 mah Rx pack with 4 JR DS3421's arranged for 120 degree CCPM. I'm getting 8.5 minutes with the throttle curve set at 85%, I can fly around for a full 8 minutes then come into hover and use up the last few electrons in the final 30 seconds as the headspeed decays. The Logo is using every last drop of power, the CP's are taking 2300+ at a 7-8 amp charge rate on my Orbit before it drops down to 2.6 amps and finally peaks at 2500-2650 mah.

I tached the rotor today, I'm getting 1300 rpm at 75% in idle1 and 1400-1500 (call it 1450) in idle2 at 85%. I did some experimenting in idle2 on the first flight. For the first 5 minutes or so you can sit in a hover and punch full pitch with little or no headspeed decay. After that it starts to bog more and more as time goes on. However, Flying around at moderate speed with tight turns is no problem right up to 8 minutes because you aren't really going above 8 degrees or so of pitch + it is moving so the load is a little less. It flies around OK at 1300 but everything is crisper @ 1450.

Re: fun 600-15, or NiMH3000?

If the reports stating the newer Panasonics have full label capacity are true then you should get about 20% more flight time on Nimh's over Nicads. I'm a little skeptical of anyone claiming 10 minutes on 12 cells. 8 on Nimh's I'd believe but 10 is pushing credibility IMHO. You would need to gear it for 1100-1200 RPM which isn't going to be much fun in forward flight I think.

longest flying time?

Thanks Chris,

if I want at least 1300 RPM, what shoul be the best choice to get the max flying time:

fun 600-18 or fun 600-15 ?
cells count: 8, 10, 12 or 14 cells?
cells type: RC 2400 or NiMH 3000SMT?

thanks

600-15, 14 cells and a 13 tooth pinion. Mikado recommends 12 cells and 14/15/16 teeth for 1300-1500 RPM so an extra 2 cells will probably need a 13 tooth pinion.

Nimh's will fly longer but personally I think the Nicads are a better deal. If you have a good charger like my Orbit which will charge at 8 amps you'll get more flight time per hour with the nicads and 2 or 3 packs. Nimh's can't be charged faster than 4 or maybe 5 amps which means it takes 45 minutes to charge + they need to cool a long time after a flight. I buy CP-2400's @ TNR for $3.25 per cell, compare that with what? 6-10 per cell for the Nimh's? I can buy twice as many nicads . I charge one pack before going to the field, throw another on charge as I assemble the heli. By the time I fly my 8 mintutes the second pack is ready to go, let the first cool and throw the third on charge. Land after the second flight, let the motor cool and the third pack is ready to go. With Nimh's I am still waiting for the second pack to charge! The Nicads charge in 22-25 minutes on the Orbit Pro.
