Airplane "Push-E" made newly was flown with 3-channel IR receiver.

The 60-ohm coil used for "Push-E" was rolled by hand. The coil is driven by the operational amplifier.

Two IR sensors were set to right and left of the fuselage.

simple plans

Could somebody send my a copy of some simple schematics for a ir tx and rx? i want to build a simple two channel system to control rudder and throttle. i have some idea on how it should work but need a "push" in the right direction.

Great Thread!

Any suggestions on how to use Koichi's setup without a Tx that has a buddy cord or a buddy box? (All I have is a Focus 3ss from Hitec).

I have built severa IR circuits not having to do with RC, and would like to build somthing similar to the Z-tron system.

Hi all,

I tried my IR system outside today. In bright sunlight at noon it was totally unusable, as expected. The range was about 5m.

After sunset things changed dramatically: We had a calm evening, and I was able to fly around my neighbourhood with my 20g "Phoenix Mite". I have used only one sensor in original shape (with the moulded lens) and pointing downwards. There were short glitches when I made tight turns far away because then the sensor was looking away from me, but otherwise the model was quite controllable as long as I pointed the TX box towards the model. The range was about 25m which is enough for a model this small and slow.

That is fantastic to hear Jochen. I may have to try out my Z-tron outside !.

I am doing D&T (Design and Technology) next year, and have decided on my project...

...i am making a DIY IR system, and putting it on a living room flyer. Cant wait till the summer holiday is over! LOL. The teacher was very interested too (he used to work for one of the helicopter companies over here).

After reading Jochen's post and finally
getting a calm evening I tried my IR system
outside also using two sensors back to back
with 48 emitters on tx, I couldn't tell much
difference between IR or radio system worked
ok in backyard so I tried in the front was able
to ROG from driveway and fly across the street.
Im not sure what range I have will continue to
experiment.

I just stumbled on this link. If you scroll to the bottom, they are using IR and 2 motors. The motors steer the plane and I assume the speed of the motors governs altitude.

Twin motor steering

Joe, you can just buy the twin steer Rx kit if you want to you know?
Its small and fiddley so I usually make them up for folks
I can't remember the price but its about $30 for two Esc, the Rx and two sensors
It is proportional, weighs about 2g on a ciruit board, dies at about 2.8v, each Esc can handle one amp.

Sergio just sent me a new batch and these have an output for retracts too so a B25 or B17 is not far off ..........

Anyone got any Z Tron mk 3 transmitters for sale ?
Sergio told me he sold about 500 kits so there must be lots of them somewhere in the world?

The palm-size infrared transmitter was made using the joy stick supplied from DIDEL.

It decomposed and joystick was converted into the mode 1.

It is compatible with a Futaba transmitter.

38kHz and 56.9kHz are switched.

Assembler sauce is exhibited by my homepage.

The rubber power indoor plane which carried the infrared control system first flew.
air frame:4.45g
rubber: 2g
IR control system: 1.55g (Battery 0.84g + RX 0.465g + Actuator coil 0.14g + Magnet 1.035g)
Flight weight is 8g.
The airplane flew so that it might drift very slowly, and its control was also enough.
Seven sets of simultaneous flights are possible for this infrared control system.

Kohichi, very impressed flight !

I think it came from nice collaboration of professionalism between R/C slowflyer and Indoor rubber FFer.

Fantastic RX and F/F plane were combined now !
