Do you want double surface or single surface wing.

double... and i'll have a balsa spar in there

should i make ribs? or just bend the top around and have a flat bottom... i guess i'd use packing tape on the LE to keep the foam from snapping from the tight bend.

i may even use split fff... the stuff i have has plastic in the middle so its easy to separate

You can gently bend the fanfold over a counter top edge and make an airfoil. Just work slowly and check your progress as you go.

It is just that easy.

See ya,
Rod

Keep in Mind that the front wing is also the landing gear, so what ever you decide on make sure that the canard can take the stressof a landing with out flattening out.

Very true marcus and unlike so many othermodels the Landing gear on this one may NOT be ommitted for simplicity or just to save weight. another problem with this particular model would be the wheels themselves. so many of the "park flyers" we have any more, while somewhat scale in apearance (such as the B-2N Islander just as an example) have greatly overgrown wheels to land on due partially to the models smaller size. This allows us as modelers to have a better flying experience as this improves ground handling immensely.

Such liberties will not be allowed on a Quickie and the resulting very small wheels on the original will translate to tiny in a model using fanfold I fear. Unless the model were to be made of a very large scale, they will certainly be tiny.

I look forward to this thread and the Quickie that hopefully will result from this. I love this model and though it is a difficult design to reproduce on a small scale, It is a design which I fell ion love with the first time I laid eyes on it.
It is both beautiful and graceful and that is just on paper. Put it on a runway and its beauty and grace are multiplied exponentially ( to me at least).

Good luck!

thanks guys!

thanks for the comments! for the landing gear i'm considering a cf arrow shaft spar in the cannard, and I do not intend to use wheels, just skids on the cannard. I agree the quickie is gorgeous! its one of my all-time favorite airplanes. actually most of rutan's designs are up there on my list

quixtards

man i'm really trying to shake this Quixtar (basically Amway) guy off of me... he's absorbed 2 of my evenings so far trying to recruit me into a marketing robot, anyhow, i'm a pushover sorta, thats why i agreed to meet him again the first time i met him, but i'm not gonna sign up... that aside, i'm saving up my roundtoits to begin this quickie, it always seems like i have other stuff to do when i try to sit down and start a full night of building

I'm offtopic here, but I've always wanted to build the Rutan LongEz, or the Varieze. Beautiful plane, just like all his other designs, has any one build it? I have plans for one, in pdf.
