Sanity Check: Axi 2820/10 w/ 2s iRate 2600 Lipos?

I've been fiddling with Motocalc and maybe it's just side effects from my insomnia kicking in, but it seems like I could run my Axi 2820/10 on a 2s iRate 2600 pack if I used a Graupner CAM 12x6 folding prop. This would pull less than the iRate's max 26A and would give me some really great weight savings and seemingly pretty long duration. Am I reading this correctly or have I gone off the deep end?

Thanks,

Steve

As long as you don't need over about 180 watts.

Sure. No reason not to run down low. The motor will be at or near max efficiency, and will probably rn as cold as a...very cold thing

The same would no be true of the cells tho. Sounds like you are going in for short burts in a sailplane. That's fine.

But personally I wouldn't run ANY LIPO at 10C for any length of time. Recipe for possible problems.

Thanks both of you. The 26A draw would only be at full throttle and thus would not be continuous. I could also use an 11x6 prop and draw even less (around 18A), but--according to Motocalc--still deliver sufficient performance with my airframe. Motocalc indicates static duration with that second setup to be around 7min. if I remember correctly--is there any reason to believe that? Understanding that I won't be getting full performance, if the performance I get is adequate--a nearly 1:1 power-weight ratio--should there be any other reason for concern?

Thank you again,

Steve
