Need replacement motor suggestions for Wing Dragon

Hi everyone,

So it seems after 200 or so flights the original speed 400 motor in my Wing Dragon from Art Tech has finally given up. I was hoping that someone here could come up with some suggestions for the following.

1) What motor I could use to directly replace the original one? I cant find the specs on it, so I don't know if it is a 6v or 7v speed 400. I was hoping someone could also recomend a motor that has the corect size shaft to work with the existing prop.

2) Is there an upgraded motor/prop combination that I could use with the existing 8.4v 1100mah 2/3A batteries that I already have?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!

Yeah, I checked their web site and left an email asking the same questions as above, but am posting here in hopes of getting a faster reply.

I am not using the motor and if you would like it I could sell it to you. It is in perfect shape still attached to eh esc the moter has around 20 flights to it. if you would like it or some of the other hardware pm me.

What are the markings on the motor? We can probably tell you if it's 6V or 7.2V.

My FMA Razor 400 has a Mega 16/15/4 brushless, 6-4 apc electric prop, Jeti 30 amp esc, and goes great on 8 1700 nimihs, but unbelievable on 3s TP 2100 lipos, the 10-12 C ones. Goes straight up.

If it is like the firebird xl, its a 7.2 volt motor. I'd use a 6 volt myself. These motors are cheap. You could go with a hyper reverse 400 motor from Aircraft-World.com
9.80 and 2.50 for shipping. These motors are either forward or reverse timed. I run a couple in 2 flying wings I have.

Exact Replacement

You should also be able to use a speed 400 from your LHS, In fact the speed 400 is more efficient and I believe lighter. I replaced my Mitsubishi 380 with a speed 400 6v and really noticed the performance increased!

I fly so much I got tired of replacing my motor all the time.
With brushless I can just forget about it.
No need to break it in. No maintainance.
Can reverse it whenever I want.
I use nothing but brushless any more.
More power, more efficient, cooler batteries, longer runs.
