Here in England, Solarfilm produce a covering called SoLite.

It does what it says on the packet, and does not need a lot of heat to shrink.

Availability in the US ?

Monokote

Finished my wedgie with neon yellow monokote using an iron setting of 2.5. Went on fine without a hint of melting.

avoid chrome covering. my buddy had his first flight on his wedgie today, and as soon as he got up to altitude he completely lost radio contact, and the thing went spiraling into the ground at high speed. it was bizzare. there was hardly anyone else flying, and none of them were on his channel. we're not certain, but the chrome covering he used is the prime suspect at the moment...

There was a thread here a while ago about chrome coverings and receiver problems. See what Ben C says in http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...threadid=19902
