I just picked up a battery set at Sam's.

8 Energizer AA's-1700mah (26g each), and wall charger that holds 4 AAs and has a switch for NiCad or NiMh. Only $19.95. Two months ago, I paid $24 for two four-packs of rayovac 1600mah AAs alone.

These should make great receiver batteries, if nothing else.

The energizers make good receiver packs, but I have found them to be inferior to the Rayovacs for flight packs. The Rayovac 1600 AA batteries seem to work great for Speed 400 loads. I've used them in my stock Zagi and in a Modelairtech Super Soarwatt with an Astro 020P with 4.44:1 gearing and a 12x8 prop. In both the Rayovacs gave at least 2.5x the flight times over standard Sanyo 600AE packs. Just what you'd expect from a 1600 mAh rating. On my charger they typically accept just about 1600 mAh after being fully drained.

The Enegrizers I tried were only marginally better than the Sanyo 600AE packs under load and tend to fall short of their rating on the charger.

Just my observations, your mileage may vary. I also only tested 1 pack of Energizers, maybe I had a bad cell.

It's new Energizer packaging, so they might be the better cells like the rayovacs. I thought the previous NiMh Energizers were 1200mah.

I'm charging the now. I'll report what I find.

Energizers are rebranded and seem to be all over the map. One pack is from China, one from Japan and one from Germany. I assume they are buying whatever is cheapest (not best).

Rayovacs are also rebranded, but all the ones I've seen are from China and are viable flight batteries.

I am in Canada. In the US, they might have different suppliers.

They are the first 1700mAh Energizers I've seen. By the way, not all stores have them. I was in Ohio over the weekend, and the Sam's Club there didn't have them. Came back to Michigan and found them, but the store was almost sold out. Perfect accessory for my new digital camera.
