The price was $29.90 in your other post, or was that a different gearbox? if so what are the differences?

Frank B,
thanks for that post! I got mine a little while back and remember being surprised how heavy it was, but I couldn't figure out why I thought it was going to be lots lighter - now I remember - this thread 2 oz in 40 odd would not be that big a deal, except when its right on the darn firewall!! At least it looks solid and the ratios are fairly easily swapped. |

I'm flying one of these gearboxes already.
Like the one in the very first pictures in the thread. Good heavy duty gearbox...I'm using the 2.5:1 ratio on a Phasor 30-3 pulling a 18.5 X 12 prop on a 107" motor glider at 61 oz using a 10 cells 2000 mah pack. The gearbox works great, but you better loctite the screws. And there are more screws in the kit than I needed for the Jeti. It seems to be a gearbox for many different mountings. It is beefy and probably weighs the 4 oz or so. But I'm not going to take it out of the glider to weigh it, sorry. It needs to be strong and a bit heavy to handle these kind of prop sizes. Mine says it's manufactured by Model Motors in Czech Republic. The actual measured draw on static is 16 amps and 3100 rpm. Probably should have used the 2:1 ratio but I don't have that one. Jay |

Jay,
What ESC are you using? Is the GB holding up to the brake? Lost a Mega 1.8:1 box. I am new to brushless. In my brushed (Astro FAI 40G) days, I would use a soft start/ brake esc. I have not noticed this feature in brushless esc's. I am using a Jeti 70-3p opto. Just wondering if the brake ate my pinion or will do so also with a Esprit 2:1 GB. Thanks for any info.
