Removable landing gear for Zagi XT (or other wing)

Some of my flying buddies and I were flying from a private airport weekend before last. I needed landing gear so that I did not get "landing rash". Here is what I came up with it works great. There should be enough detail here that you can make your own by looking at the photos is you so desire. It consists of 2 standard wire hangers, three lightweight foam wheels and four rubber bands. Here you go.

Okay, I think that's neat!

Can it ROG too? That would be a nice change.

Thanks for the idea,
Brad

Yes, on a hard firm surface it does ROG. Although I tried it on thick grass and could not get it up off the grass. But its pretty cool to see an XT take off from the ground.

That's a GREAT idea lightnin. I think i might try that one myself. I did try to use one of those premade alloy ones but yours being removable is definately far superior. Thanks for the photos.

Cheers
Paul

Gazza, I have not weighed them I can tell you that the XT still flies with some authority with the gear on but alas it does not have the same personality with the landing gear. But they will allow you to take off and land on a hard surface if you need to. However, make sure there are not many small rocks on the surface I have lost 2 props to pebbles doing this. Thanks for the perks guys.

Where did you get those wheels? They look like minature race car tires.

I have a zagi 400. Will this landing gear fit? If so, do you have plans/measurements etc

Your prolly on your own for the specs, as the original post was a few years ago. Should be easy enought to fab your own, Use some creativity.

Whats your intent? If its for landing in rough spots just slap some coroplast skids on the bottom. If its for ROG, I would pass as it could have adverse affects on the planes personality. Wheel placement needs to be in the correct location or you will have prop strikes or you may not be able to get off the ground.

Good luck!

I tried making landing gear a while ago for my zagi as well and tried to ROG but didnt have any luck. It wouldn't track straight probably just because i didnt do a very good job making it. I just got back into flying my zagi with the discovery of lipos and it is a blast. The nicads werent enough power for me. Recently I have been doing touch and gos of the grass without any skids. Maybe I will try to make some sort of gear. If so, I'll post it here. I like zagi :-)
