Thanks, Sundancer. I'll have a proper look around that site soon. I've glanced at it before with the idea of buying stuff just for indoor free flight rubber power, but I know so little about it, I didn't get very far.

I need pictures, really Though a picture of a sheet of mylar or tissue wouldn't tell me much.

I have not seen that index updated for quite a while but if you look at:
http://www.outerzone.co.uk/vinplandex/
which is currently maintained and up to date. It is a searchable database the Steve (WMD) hosts. The index links back to the RCG Vintage & Old-Timer Plans thread that has over 8000 posts and over 4000 plans posted (although a many are duplicates or a cleaned up version of the original posters plan but there are a lot of plans posted there. The RCG thread starts at:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265873

Also see:

to download a lot of those plans that are also on the RCG thread.

Working with foam sheeting

I found this interesting.
Save your foam food trays for a source of FREE sheet material, as the following modeler has done.

Lazy Ace

I cannot find my Lazy Ace (Chuck Cunningham) plans anywhere. In fact I would like to by a kit or short kit to save time. I see that Laser Design Services do have a kit of the 84 inch version. Does anyone have experience with buying from LDS ? Or anyone has a kit for sale ?

Anyone got experience with Kit Cutters Inc. ? I did order their 96inch version. Have not received a reply yet. LDS that also do have the design have not responded to my requests.

Not sure whether this will fit here, but discovered a building board that is dirt cheap, and holds pins very well. Buy a normal "Softboard" 8 X4 sheet, this is virtually useless on it`s own, but collect normal household enamel paint, any colour, any will do, as long as its thinner compatable. Collect in a 5 litre paint tin and stir with about 200 ml of normal enamel thinners, until paint is fairly "runny" . Proportions are not critical. Paint mixture on softboard, and continue to give coats until paint is reluctant to soak in. (+- 4 to 5) Allow to dry for 2 days in the sun on an old door, and voila, you will have a building board which takes and holds pins very firmly, and will last a lifetime. Mine is +- 5 years old, and is still as good as new. Do both sides to prevent warping.
When continually laminating parts and using the same pinholes, after +- 1 year, give another coat of paint, and it is as good as new. This has solved my perennial problem of building boards!!!

I am on a personal quest to read the 100+ years of Flight Magazine.

As I do, I've been recording the locations of scale drawings and models. I include the models when I post each year's information in the "Drawings in the Flight Magazine Archives" Thread. To find them, look in the first portion of a list for a four-digit year followed by the word "Model"

For example:
1915: Model, Kilshaw’s ROG tractor monoplane = http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchi...0-%200084.html

This thread appears to be a good location for posting each year's model planes, so users of this forum will readily find them.

That's interesting David, for me in particular the paper model by R.F.L Gosling. I think this may well have been one of the first published works by Bob Gosling who went on to become a very influential figure in UK aeromodelling in the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's. He subsequently designed many fine models, mostly sailplanes, such as the Ivory Gull, Nordic Tern etc. I only knew him in his later years, but he was a real gentleman and a fine modeller.

Sundancer,
Thank you for sharing the tale. I am enjoying my reading, and appreciate the context you have given me. In the 7 years of issues that I've read, thus far, I am already learning the names of a few pioneers and becoming familiar with their work. I shall keep special watch for Mr. Gosling's name as I continue my reading.
