I need a new "Lazy Plane" Suggestions?

I fly from a large field and want to get something other than my usual hand launched S400 stuff.

I am looking for a high wing lazy flyer that I can over power. The reason I want to over power it is so it will cruise at very low power setting for nice long flights.

I was thinking of the Hobby Hanger Scout, or the GP PT-E but I don't want to buy new motors if I have to. Currently I have a Turbo 450 that I thought I could gear to get good performance out of using my 8 cell 800 AR and 8-1400AE packs.

Any thoughts on a good ROG flyer that will do touch and goes all day long and fly off grass on that combo? If not what do you recommend.

One benefit would be a cheap kit or plans, free plans are great too if there are any.

Have you thought of a Miss 2 or a Hummel? They are very nice planes that fit your description and power requirements. Both sold by Multiplex I believe.

They are both essentially the same plane with a little different wing. The down side is that they are around $100. Too bad I didn't see this post as I just sold one off cheap. The quality of these kits is VERY good. ---Rob

SR's Cutie, no doubt about it. I have mine overpowered with a black 480 clone with the standard gearbox and prop. Slow or fast, my Cutie is a delight to fly. Short-field takeoffs are great with a short 90 degree pitch angle climb for about 10 feet.

Those are great, but still 400 size. I'd like to go a little bigger, 600 size range.

Also, those are way to expensive.

What about the Bubbles design I see plans for?

I though a DD T450 or geared 450 would be great on it. That way I can use the 800AR and 1400AE packs I have and get a decent sized plane.

What if I made the fuse side from 3/32 menium balsa instead of open framework? It would really cut down the build time.

Mirage 550 with Geared Endoplasma/7 cells and 10x7 E prop. Will fly all day on 1/4 throttle, ROG and T&G. Total setup cost:$260 including battery pack (2000nimh). www.goldbergmodels.com Requires minimum 35 Amp ESC with this setup.

I have a nice green/white one with r/e/t can also be modified for ailerons. Will do sustained inverted flight with this motor and ailerons (or just with rudder if you're VERY careful) Also thermals!

The Mirage 550 and Hobby Hanger Scout are two of the planes I am looking at. I also downloaded the Bubbles plans and it seems like a great choice.

Anyone notice that the Goldberg models went to $87.99 for the Mirage!

Depends upon how "Lazy" you want to get. I have discovered what I consider an extreme lazy flyer in my 1941 Cabin Playboy, an old timer I built from a kit from New Creations (the Aveox kit). For power I used a packaged system from Dymond consisting of a 550 with in-line gear box, yoke, spinner, and proper prop all for only $70. The bat pack is 8-1000's.
It will ROG in 10 feet, climb out at 35-45 degrees and once up there, dial in a few clicks of rudder, set the xmtr down and go get a coffee ( I have actually done this ). A real frequency pin hog.
You can repeat the climb outs as many times as your buddies will allow you to hog the frequency.
The Playboy has become one of my favorites.
