Question
JePe Pyranha Mega 16/20/2

I am about to buy a JePe Pyranha and it has been suggested to me that I use a Mega 16/20/2 motor (which is normally used for boats), Wemotec 480 mini fan and 4 lipo cells.
Is anyone else using this setup? I am also looking for an appropriate esc around 40amps and have considered the CC Phoenix 45.
The other suggestion was to use the new Kontronic Konion 1100mah cells.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated and considered.

I have one, unflown (too many other priorities in life right now) and I think most folks are using the Mega 16/15/3 or /2. JePe sells the combo with the 3 turn mega. Some others are using the Kontronic Fun 400 motors. Do a search on Pyranha or MiniViper and you'll find a few threads with all sorts of info.

I don't know about the 16/20/x motors

The Mega 16/25/3 (kv=1700) needs a lot of cells (20 cells or 6s) in the MF480 to get going. It's a poor choice for the MiniFan, the Mega 16/15/3 is the way to go Mega-wise (as btw recommended by JePe).

For 4S packs the 16/20/2 looks good though no one have experience with it yet. The Konion's look real good with their 12C continous rating.

I have tested a Konion 3S3P pack with the Fun400-42 in the Minifan and got 400W/38A.

16/20/2 was created at request by www.HAB.se for use in Robbe Eolo/Spirit.

Mega runs well on Jeti and TMM escs, where Jeti is faster throtteling and tmm is more efficiant.

The optimum mega lipoly minifan setup I have found is a 4S2P irate 1800 pack (~300g) with the 16/15/3. 450watts fading to 420watts, pack comes out warm not hot after 9mins flight - mostly WOT.

Thanks for all the replies.
I am swaying toward the 16/15/3 on 4s2p Irates as Devmonkey suggests. Do you know what amperage the Irate 1800 4s2p are capable of continuous?
Herb, don't know where you got 16/25/3 from?
I asked about the 16/20/2 which apparently is a brand new motor and although it is heavier (I am told that it is on the 480 size motor instead of the 16/15/3 which is around the 400 size) is capable of maintaining its power on 4s while the 16/15/3 drops off a little.
Just trying to weight things up.

Keep it coming...I love different opinions.

I bought a pyranha at the UK Bickley meeting. Jepe was there and I found it hard to refuse a kit!

The power plant will be:

Hacker B40-12s.
Hacker 40-3p s/c.
Four 2S1P packs of Polyquest 2200 cells used in 4S2P format (352g).
This pack is 10C rated continous (44A) but 8C is best for optimal life (35A).

Heres mine almost ready to paint.
I decided to glass the wing/tail feathers and all has worked out fine.
Estimates of weight suggest that mine may be slightly over the 1050g suggested limit.

I found the most time consuming part was working on the inlets...

I used 1/2oz glass cloth and finishing resin. I used a credit card to squeegee the surplus resin off and used a cellulose filler/primer to fill the weave.

Here she is with a basecoat on. I have a lot of this colour, so I thought why not. Now I need to work on visibility. Any suggestions as to a colour scheme with this as the base?
