Will I Fry My TP2100-3S?

I just install a Mega 15/16/3 I had lying around in my old Zagi, and I really would like to use my TP2100-3S to drive it. I'm using an APC 4.7/4.7 and I'm pulling about 17-18 AMPs.

It looks like I'm on the edge, and I was wondering if anybody had fried these packs at that AMP draw? I typically fly the Zagi at full throttle, most of the flights.

I think it is really important to stay under the discharge rate that the manufacturer suggests.
Once you start to pull more current than the suggested amount, the pack voltage depresses. Sometimes to the point of triggering the low voltage cut off of the ESC.

So you end up with a poor performing battery pack, plus you run the risk of damaging a cell or two, which can cause a charging incident. ( cell burst or fire). It's just not worth the risk.

Unless you have the latest version TPs, yours can only be discharged at 6C. Thats only 12.6 amps. A lot less than the 17a, you expect to draw.
You are not on the edge, you are over it, unless you run at partial throttle only.

Irate 2600s would handle it though. 20 amps

I think you're right.

Yep. You are correct. I'm going to replace it with a Mega 15/16/4. With the same prop I should be right at 11A. Why take the risk?

I'm using an older 2100 TP 3S pack with a B20 15L in a ducted fan,.. 22 amps peak, just over 200 watts. That's above the manuf. specs, and they come out hot at the end of a flight, but I haven't puffed a pack yet. I use throttle a lot (this EDF has unlimited vertical, so you don't need a lot of full throttle ). Average 8 to 9 minute flights, indicating 6 to 7 C average. The new 1950 10C cells handle it constant, no problem.

New gen2 TP2100s is now under the aging process(20,000pcs), ready for sale in less than 2 weeks.
If you call Jason at Thunder Power(702-228-8883), he may arrange to sell you "0ne" preproduction pack TP2100-3S/12C to be deliver on monday.

continuos discharge current:25Amp
Short burst current: 40Amps

Looks like they are on the www.tppacks.com site now. Cool, I'll wait and purchase those.

If you fly full throttle all the time, forget about 18a constant draw. If you could use throttle management you'd be good (my friend's himaxx setup pulls 18.5a but in flight averages much less...) and it works but the packs come out hotter than i would like..
