Crazy Max 3D is a winner!
Hi all,
finally got around to test the crazy max 3D. Used the stock setup and 8 x 350 nicds, Hs 55s and a GWS RX and a Castle 15 amp speed controller. One word: Get one! ( I know that's two words). I flew it off grass ( was out testing the E3d, the VERy BIG brother) and it ripped! Wattage did a VERY good job. The other wattage ( hawk) I own, is equally a winner. If all their electrics have this type of performance with the stock setup--- GWS, watch out. The GWS stuff is great, but we all know they need two cells more ( flame suit on) than recommended, then they are fine. Anyway the crazy 3d slows down, loops, rolls, no bad stall stuff, tracks really well ( those wingtips do the trick--again), for 50$ it''s a steal. Andre PS.: I know of a simulator the Crazy 3d really should be in... |

Hi Andre, thanks for posting the flight report. I should be getting mine any day now. When you say stock setup do you mean you didn't change anything? Now that you've flown it can you think of anything that could be improved?
I'll have to check out your E3D report. Regards, BC |

Thanks for the report. I'm just holding for batteries. Can't wait to fly!
What do you mean about the tips? They don't appear special to me. |

Hi there,
I am usually ( like everybody else here) pretty sceptic about performance with " stock " setups. The stock gearbox, motor and prop work very well. The plane has very good power and flys good. It is a very enjoyable little aerobat. The " tips" -- most funfly type wings have the tips hacked off flat, not rounded. The Diablotin Style planes, the Magic 3d and the little Crazy 3d have the tapered/ rounded tips-- gives A LOT better tracking and a smoother ride. Andre |

Im excited to fly mine now.....I was wondering how long the 350 mha battery lasts. My directions call for an 800 mha Nimh pack. Are the batteries hot when your done?

I got a Crazy Max for Christmas........I second what Andre is saying.....this thing is an absolute BLAST!!! I used the 5/4 aaa bats that wattage recommends and also regular size aaa bats....all nimh cells.....It will hover on a hot off the charger pack....I'm just not good enough with the sticks to keep it there...
![]() I set mine up with 4 hs55s (two aileron servos)....a shrink wrapped 555 rx and a zagi esc....motor, gearbox and prop are stock out of the box. I'm currently running a y harness to the aileron servos.....when I get time I'll try to figure out the fancy radio mixes to utilize the 2 aileron servos.... My buddy used a single aileron servo and mounted it on the bottom of the wing....contrary to directions, which say to mount the single servo on top. It works great too...... The only problems I've had: 1. The tail skid breaks very easily.....replaced mine with a piece of wire. 2. The tray beneath the wing is a bit flimsy....reinforced mine with balsa. 3. Wants to go straight up at full power...Shimmed the motor mount for a bit of downthrust(about a 16th of an inch. (my buddies idea) It worked well..... Those three things are very small inconveniences.....I have more fun with this than my F5b... Everybody should get one of these things......$49.95 is a steal for such a great flying airplane. And, yes my batts are hot when they are done....the wattage 800 5/4s aaa batts are the way to go.....My buddy tried 6-600ae...flies but not enough power...he tried 7-600ae..still not like the 800 aaa packs.... Crazy 3D
Hi there,
next thing I will try is to switch the stock prop for a 9 x 4.7 slowfly prop. This should hover it no problem, reportedly. I will also try 8 x 500 ARs, which allow the motor to draw max current. Andre |

Eric....Is this your first attempt at a plane with landing gear?
I had a balsa gas plane and I knicked a barb wire fence (under mph) and the wing exploded. I am hopeing to have better luck with Crazy max. ......so.....I a way this is my first attempt at a "real" plane too. I will never tire of zagi though. It would have taken me years (and thousands of dollars) to have learned outside loops and inverted flight with a fragile "real" plane. Long live the flying boogie board.
