New Scorpio Build and Maiden Flight

Today brought the maiden flight for my new Scorpio. What a blast. Goes straight up accelerating until it's a speck in 10 sec and I could detect no flex in the wing even pulling fairly hard in some high G turns. This baby is a keeper!

Here are the specs:

Hacker B50 6S
Hacker 105 OPTO ESC
RFM 16x16 narrow
10x GP3300
360 mAH Rx batt

With a fresh charge but cool batt pack pulled 89 amps. Will check it again with batteries in the 50-60C range.

Inside fuselage. The ESC is mounted with velcro for easy in and out of battery pack. The Rx battery and Rx are mounted behind the wing saddle.

I had to do a little routing of the vertical stab on mine as well but not near as much and I made it round and smooth.. sure wish I had a digital camera... I am proud of the way it turned out.... Dive your scorpio straight down from 1000 feet and do a pylon turn... you WILL see the wing flex!....

Yup.

It's a nice plane though. I assembled one for a friend (notice I didn't say "built") and got to fly it as a benefit. Not quite as fast as an Avionik, but good enough for me.

You'll be blown away when the cells are hot. My Plett pulled 91A with that prop at room temp, and 125A at 60 DegC. That's a good deal more watts (probably about 350W extra or so...not insignificant!!!)

Let us know how it goes. Looks like the Hacker 6S is almost as hot as the Plettenberg F5F drive. As for efficincy, I don't know who gets the nod (hopefully the Plett as it's almost twice as much dough )

I personally would like to see an all metal clevis on the ailerons and a Z bend at the servo. You want the to be as slop free as possible. Any slop will translate into flutter at the speed the plane can achieve.
