Saw the new Ripmax f-16 at the LHS - any good?

My local hobby shop had the Ripmax F-16. Is it a good plane? What type of batteries? Can it use 600AE Zagi batteries? Is it a tough plane?

I'm quite tempted. I have to pick up some balsa for skis and I might just have to make a post-xmas purchase.

Looks interesting on the web page http://www.ripmax.com/ProductFrames/A-K10802.html

The page claims that the EDF gives you 400g of thrust and is included in the kit. How much did they want for the entire kit?

No, Ripmax don't appear to have the Kyosho F16 any more (but if anyone knows where there might be one - I could be interested)

It's this one:

I looked in the box at the LHS and thought it was way too flimsy for me, though a friend who is an indoor specialist has got one and it should be nearly ready by now, I'll try to give him a call.

Regards, John

mytal, that link is to the Kyosho F-16 that Ripmax imports into the UK. I think the F-16 that he really means is this other, small foam F-16 with 2 small pusher motors on the trailing edge of the wing.

Look at:

http://www.ripmax.com/FS_AircraftEPScaleSport.html

I don't think rtideas saw a Ripmax labled Kyosho F-16 in the US, but he might well have seen the other little foam F-16, which I think is a Ripmax exclusive.

Nope, the smaller 280 speed foamie. My buddy had the Kyosho.

I was wondering about the little jet (pusher.)

@rtideas ,
Iīve flown the little foam F-16 a while ago .Instead of the two pusher Props , RIPMAX delivers it with a single speed300 Pusher .I used 7/600AE Battery wich fitīs good intoo the plane and the weight is OK.Itīs easy to handlaunch and quite fast for a little plane like this . She really looks nice in the sky and is easy to fly , but at full throttle she always wants to turn left, īcause of the torque the single pusher creates. All at all itīs a nice very good looking plane.

Trecker,

Thanks. Would a gearbox be worth it? Or maybe I don't want to cut the top speed down.

Is there any way to counteract the torque?

Thanks again,

Perhaps a small bit of right thrust to counter the torque would help.

Forget the Gear īcause that means a bigger prop and more Torque . The Idea to work with right thrust is worse thinking about , but the problem is the motormounting .Originaly it is planned to glue the motor into a ring of wood .If you do so , you can build in a little counterthrust . But I wanted to test different motors , so I installed a tube with a slot atthe end where the motor is fixed in by a strap.Works fine , but I forgot to build in an angle to give it some counterthrust ...Perhaps i will do this the next time .As soon as the wind calms down , I want to test the F-16 with a C6/7 Estes Rocket Engine .This fits well into the tube ...

Cool idea. Don't forget about the ejection charge.
