Yes thats my real subject. How come every time you turn around there is some young snot telling you that you did something wrong or could have done it better or etc... Other hobbies/sports dont have this much of a problem with these people. Or do they?

You know the type. Determined to reinvent the wheel regardless of how many times NASA or Dupont has had teams of scientists perfecting the device or procedure in question. Heaven forbid anyone should offer any advice or opinions to such people because then you're immediately stereotyped as "Stuffy" or "A Grumpy Old Man". In my opinion being a "insolent young snot" is really a state of mind and has nothing to do with age.

I do have a solution to this age old conflict. Everyone get a Zagi and go fly at Tic's favorite slope......

The Depends squad V the diaper squad.
There will be contests world wide in all forms of glider flight to narrow each group down to the top 5 people in that age group.
Then a 3 day contest in southern California in.
Thermal duration (same planes)
Combat (same Planes)
Dynamic soaring (top Speed same planes)
Hand launch (same planes)
This would be for bragging rights for the year.
It is the only way to really know if us old guys have the experiance we think we do, or the young guns have the new talent to dethrone us.
Age groups would be:
40 and over (the depends team)
39 and under (the diaper team)
LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason in this hobby is the usual barage of questions. The young person will actually try to answer the "how high can it go" and "how fast can it go" and "how much does it cost" with some snotty reply. The old person is so tired of answering these........

If the wheel wasn't "reinvented", we'd still be driving buggies and shovelling horse poop! We "old farts" know the way things should be done , but if it weren't for the young pups trying new fangled ideas we'd be up to our necks in organic fertilizer!

I can't say I like your age division. I'm 43 and still reinventing the wheel. Yes, alot of my ideas don't pan out, but it sure puts a cheesy grin on my face when they do! I guess I'd consider myself a "tweener".

I'll let the old farts and the snot noses fight this one out.........

In the UK, at 41, you'd be classified as a 'young snot'. I just turned 39 today and am among the younger generation at my local club of 140+ members.

Hi Folks:

When I first read the thread title, I was sure it said "Insolvent young snots" rather than insolent.

One of the great things about being "an old grump" is that I now have the money to have a good time in the hobby!
