Tiger MT2206 2000KV & MN2206 2350KV - 4S - HQ Prop 6x4.5
The ultimate mini-multi power system?
(edit... since this thread started the 2350KV version has become available and is now new top dog in the 'ultimate' stakes See within for examples, I'm yet to get my hands on some.)
* Tiger MT2206 2000KV motor
* HQ Prop 6x4.5 Carbon / Nylon Prop
* 4S Lipo
4.65kg of thrust in a mini-quad anyone?
Check the HQ Prop thread for prop details and vendors...
This combo produces at half throttle, what the Sunnysky 2204 2300KV produces at full throttle with 5" props on 3S, and at 70% of the amps.
Full throttle is 2.3x more thrust, in a motor 1.5x heavier (30g vs 20g), and a prop 20% larger in diameter. Or, four of these at 120g will produce 150% of the thrust of six 20g motors with 5" props, and should produce the same thrust with comparable efficiency.
Plus a healthy 1.7x advantage over a reported thrust of 685g with the cobra 2204 1960KV on 4S with HQ Prop 5x4's.
Peak Output - 1164 grams...
These HQ props are so much stronger and more rigid under the weight of FPV gear, they are superbly manufactured, and well balanced out of the packet. They are absolute powerhouses!
Speed... Because the motor is spinning 16% faster and can maintain higher RPM under load the speed is also higher. 148km/h by pitch speed while held in static air. This compares to 118km/h with the same prop on the Sunnysky 2204. It has also been reported that this prop actually is a 5.5 pitch, which equates to 181km/h!!!
Efficiency is very low on the bench, but should be much better in flight. It seemed to heat up slower than the 2204 2300KV in the same situation, and that combo is working in flight. In any case it's here for a good time, not a long time
There were no sync issues with SimonK 2013-05-15 and a BS40A ESC. ESCs will be of high importance here. I would place my bets on the upcoming KISS 18A ESCs as the best choice.
Also the Sunrise 20A opto (actually a de-rated 30A) should be a good candidate too.
Lipos will also be important with a quality lipo most probably paying huge dividends...
These tests were done on fully charged 4S lipos and should be the maximum that could be expected.
So time to find a good source for the Tigers and get them in the air!!! I hope others are keen to try the set up too and report back. Based on other tests that have worked well in practice, this combo should also perform well. I cannot be held responsible for your potentially folding the fabric of space time in on yourself however, and all test are at your own risk!
I look forward to your findings!
Cobra 2208 2000KV Test.
I only tested on the HQProp 6x4.5 and 4S as that's all that matters really. Actually I did test the 7x4.5 as well but it was insanely hot very quickly. That may be OK in flight but on the bench it was way over spec with something like 42amps! 3S and 7x4.5's should be fine, I didn't have 3S packs charged...
Note the unstable RPM, this might mean SimonK firmware was having trouble keeping up, as normally it is more stable. I also had a bad bearing on my test motor new out of the box. Both these things should mean the 1200g is the minimum that should be expected from this motor, pending the lipo keeping up to the task. (The tes was done on 4x fully charged 4S 1800mAh 65C lipos in parallel.)
Tom just passed on some info and a suggestion to include references to know working ESC's for these applications. For want of a better place I'm adding it here for now...
"Right now the only two out of 6 combos I have that are reliable are 1806 2300kv on tiger 12 amps or lumineier 12 amp
or 2216 100kv tigers on lumineier 30 amp esc on 4s.
both flown way over 100 batts.."

This is mad! I know what my dream setup is for this year ;p
This opens so much more opportunities. I guess it can totally be compared with the big ones now. Bigger lipos can easily be used now

OMG....OMG!! this little bastard makes nearly same throttle as the 2216 1100kv with 9" props at the same Amp!
Nice job broda, good to know this way when making a little sneaky devil...

This was just brought to my attention too
2350KV in a 2206... Hmmmmm.
Don't know if it will handle 4S with 6x4.5's though. Probably on an acro copter it will be fine, maybe not FPV???
The original MT style, with built in prop thread, is a much better design in my mind too. Although you can replace the prop adapter with these if it gets bent.

That's insane amount of thrust !
Don't nobody fly near a Hadron collider, or you might create a singularity or a portal and who knows what will come out of there....
Those HQ props are what I need and will make me forget the fiasco and bittertaste of the GemFans 6x3's
It'll be a treat to see the small quads warp into Hyperflight with this setup. Looking forward to flight videos!
