KK2.1 V1.17S1 Updated Firmware

If you are using the Pro firmware, please update to V1.17S2 as this has a fix for gimbal servo's jumping and also improves Outputs 7 & 8.

Thank you all for your donations. Total so far is just over 300.

Updated firmware and manual.

Both the Lite and Pro version have improved self level code to increase the angle accuracy so that your multicopter knows which way is up.

Pro version updates are:

a) Much improved self level code that more accurately calculates which way is up. This improves switching to self level after aggressive flying and will improve the Camera Gimbal operation as the accuracy of the angles is now much better. The receiver interrupts no longer screw with the Self Level calculation.

b) Fixed a bug where the Switch SS & PI flag wasn't cleared after a Factory Reset.

c) Added all 25 serial buffer bytes to debug. Only the first 16 used for a DSM satellite. All 25 are used for SBus. Note, only the first 16 bytes are used in the KK2.1.X control code. SBus channels above 16 bytes cannot be used to control the multicopter. When on the Safe screen, the servos will be centred. When in the menu, no signal is sent to the servos.

d) Servo Always On now user selectable in Misc Options 3 (Servos On Arm). If set to yes, servos will move (rather than centre) when armed and the throttle is at zero. Tricopter users will probably want to leave this as "No" so the yaw servo doesn't move when arming/disarming.

Donations for Merlin MS Centre

Ive spent many hundreds of hours updating this firmware. If you would like to show your appreciation, I would be delighted if you made a donation to my favourite charity, even if its only 1 or $1. Please leave a message with your donation. The message needs to be left on the Paypal page under Special Instructions before clicking "Pay now".

Same here.

Made a small donation for a good cause.

Edited to add:

I noticed that the default SL P gain is 70 in this version and 60 in V1.16S1. I'm guessing this has to do with the SL code change?

Just donated a few bucks.

@RotoRon, I just updated my board with the new FW. The update didn't change my gain settings.

Kk installed on new vibration mount & new firmware flashed.. Charger stops working. Doh.

Thanks for the update! Sound like a good one, cannot wait for a new charger to arrive so I can try it out . Will look into the charity when I'm at the computer.

I have a little problem after flashing from 16 pro back to 12s beginner.
sometimes it wont arm after disarming to make an adjustment, and I have to re-power the FC.
Any ideas?

No, you need to jot them down and set them again.

Hi Tom, you need to download and install the KK Flash Tool by LazyZero, which can be found here. You need some sort of AVR programmer, like a USBasp, to connect to the ISP headers on your KK2.1.5. Then you have to select the right programmer, board, and firmware version from the drop-down menus in the KKFT GUI. Make sure that nothing else other than the 6-pin connector of the USBasp is connected to your KK. Hit the green running man button, and wait until the program is done flashing the firmware onto your board. After you've successfully flashed the new firmware, go through the initial setup procedure of selecting your motor layout, sensor, and ESC calibrations.

I know that it's a lot of info, so I highly suggest you read the necessary user's manuals and browse the forums for all the info before you start trying to flash your board so that you don't inadvertently brick it. Good luck.
