Don't know the answer to your question on the whattmeter availablility, but when you find one, take those Tanics and run them FAB for 30 seconds. After about 30 seconds, they will warm up and will actually pick up ***more***. They won't get hot, they just warm up a little. Those whattmeter's are great tools. I use mine to optimize props and all kinds of things. When you put one together with the thrust stand, you have a true dyno that you can squeeze every bit of performance out of these things. Plus it's FUN! :-) |

galenm,
Apparently that's not the case, at least according to MotoCalc. I did a little "Bang for Buck" or "Thrust per Amp" comparison between the AXI 2212-34 and the HiMax 2025-4100 geared 6.6:1, both with a 12X3.8 APC prop. The HiMax was the winner by a red hair. AXI: 19.5 ozs @ 7.3 amps or 2.7 ozs/amp HiMax: 25.2 ozs @ 8.7 amps or 2.9 ozs/amp To get that same 25 ozs of thrust with an AXI you'd have to use the 2212-20. But then you'd be pulling 16.3 amps or about 1.5 ozs/amp Down side to gearbox? The whine. Upside? Use an adapter plate, change a pinion, change a spur and you can have all kinds of gear ratio/prop/motor combos. All that being said, I STILL want to try an outrunner in something...
