Tri-Slope Six-Pack Information

Detailed information about the Tri-Slope Six-Pack (3S6P) event in south-eastern Washington on May 15/16 is now posted at http://shredair.com/album/3s6p1.html
The 3S6P is a slope event for scale and performance gliders. For two days, six categories of slope plane will fly at up to three different slope sites. That's the plan, anyway, let's hope for good wind.
Paul Naton of Radio Carbon Art (http://radiocarbonart.com) has announced that he will be filming the event for a new slope movie he is preparing.
Please check it out (both pages), and if you're interested in attending, please e-mail us.

Thanks,

Dieter Mahlein, ShredAir

Why no EPP?

What's with banning EPP ships? Seems a little--shall we say--"exclusive".

I can understand why you wouldn't want 100 Zagi's trying to knock each other down, but what's wrong with nicely built EPP PSS warbirds flying in a responsible fashion?

I think if someone is willing to drive/fly a mighty long way to participate, why not let them fly what they've got? Not cool IMHO.

This thread should be stickied, and I for one think Dieter shouldn't have to go through yet another round of explaining why this event is EPP free. No disrespect meant to Zhack by that, but this issue has been beat to death multiple times in other threads. Suffice to say, the people holding the contest have declared that it is a no EPP event and understand that some people will not come as consequence. This is their intention, as the people they are trying to attract--the high performance glass and composite fliers--will not come if they are going to have to share airspace with foamie combat wings or whatever. Rather than dilute the event by making "foamie" and "crunchie" flying windows, the contest organizers have simply declared that it will be non-EPP. Since it's their contest it is their right to do so.

I'm not trying to start a flame war but rather am trying to summarize what I've seen discussed in threads on this topic recently.

Thank you Steve for the nip in the bud, and thank you Ric for making it stick.

Oooops

Looks like I stepped in it. I really didn't mean to stir any pots. Believ me when I say though I'm a long time ezoner, I'm new to the slope forums. I honestly have not seen this issue raised anywhere except on the link that was posted in the original post. I seem to have stumbled into a hot zone.

I agree there is no need to drag issues that apparently been hashed out elsewhere into what appears to be a pretty objective event announcement. Thanks for keeping it between the ditches, surfimp.

That being said, as I am new to this forum, can someone point me to some threads that explain why there is a (percieved) conflict between people flying EPP and moulded slopers at the same site at the same time, the same site at different times, or at the same event at different times and/or sites?

Peace.

@ Zhack:
I understand you have a foamie, if you have a HP glider and fly on the the slope you maybe reconize that you need much more air- space as with the foamie.
So you appreciate EPP free air.
Cheers

Thomas, are you going to the Six Pack? If so will you be bringing Rudi?

It's kinda parallel to the PSS festival not allowing molded non-PSS slopers flying at it's event; it wouldn't have a theme if it was a free-for-all.
Besides, just because Dieter is the Spokesmodel for Zagi sportsware, doesn't mean he condones the use of EPP at special events! (See the thread on Slope Heads)

At this point it looks like I will have it together in time.

Wow, I checked out your site and it really looks like a great event you're getting together! Guys, these are REAL slopes - if you've never flown them you deserve to at least once in your life - they are well worth the trip from anywhere on the globe. I'd love to bring my latest project up for it but I really don't think I'll be coming to that part of Washington for a long time. Tschüs and good luck!
