What is the highest quality radio made?

I know this will be controversial, but I am shopping for a new radio and would like to see opinions.

I would like to know what you think the highest quality RC Transmitter is, that is currently still made and available new.

More importantly, I would also like to know why you think it is the highest quality.

I am not talking about feature set or base appearances.

Things like durability, quality of materials, ergonomics, smoothness or feel of the sticks, readability of the display, quality of electronics failure rates, things of that nature.

Also country of manufacture could be a measure in some cases, though the Chinese are catching up quickly, many feel Made in Japan means better quality than made in China for example.

Thanks for weighing in!

High quality----
to me it's a radio which does all I want - does it well and - if I decide to change to a system with more features - I won't be stuck with an expensive orphan
blowing a lot of money to try impress someone else, is a waste
There is some expensive stuff out there which may be obsolete in a year - but
it's a hobby -
Kinda like leasing a car because you cant pay to buy it and you want to impress someone with it's "quality"
You just end up spending a lot with nothing to show for it when it's gone .

8 channels would be a minimum for my needs.

ETA The Jetis are indeed impressive.

What I need may be not what you want!
that's the problem with "quality" evaluations
I don't like heavy tx
I don't want stiff stick springs
The list goes on
My favorite? the DX9
and the cost of the radio really is not an issue for me - I buy what does the job I want done. I have radios costing three times as much- I don't use em very much tho they operate perfectly.
The "features " some brands offer, are of no value to me . so the very high prices they charge are of no added value--or quality
Just more "stuff".

I voted for FR-SKY because you get the most for your money with it. Its far from the best made though. My Multiplex is far better made but its outmoded and its no longer available in the USA.
BTW what radio is made in Japan these days?

Asia bashing? Czech Republic? Haha, Skoda guns for the German Wehrmacht!

Jeti, Spektrum, Transis etc. are more or less bug infested. Nothing more. Toys...

The only brand that is up to industrial standards is Japan Remote Control (JR):

FCC ID AXGL25-N4580

All other radios are toys...

Oh, I there is another one, Sanwa/Airtronics makes automotive remote controls...

Cheers

It's so difficult to define the best... anybody can tell wish is the best car.?
It's so subjective this... depends of your personal motivation, ergonomics and aesthetic tastes...
I know JR are one of the best but looks like robot head... futaba looks better to me but is my personzl choice

In terms of physical quality JR and Jeti lead the way for me, but tbh I think it's a waste of time spending out big bucks for a radio that will '"last" nowadays when the market is so disrupted. Are you certain your brand of choice can weather the storms and come out the other side? If they don't you are going to be swapping out a lot of RXs and selling your fancy TX at a big loss. This is why I moved from Multiplex to FrSky, not JR or Jeti; I am not sure any if those outside of FrSky will be distributed here in 2 years time.

FrSky is, on its best day, slightly below average. Sloppy soldered antennas, loose switches, most Taranis don't sit flat on the table (the "feet" aren't quite flat), and my particular system has hex head screws on one gimbal and philips screws on the other gimbal, cheap plastic case with a cheap finish, and there's a whole thread about hard-hacking it's physical issues of the hardware. There is literally nothing about the hardware that is anywhere near top class... it is adequate, would be about it. It's adequate enough that people get to enjoy the actual source of the power of the system, and that is OpenTx. If it wasn't for OpenTx, Taranis isn't worth bothering with.

Jeti's hardware quality is totally uncompromising. the high end JR, Futaba and Spec would come next (in that order, IMO), Hitec is up above the rest of the non-flagship systems, a then rank and file after that... and FrSky, Walkera, Tactic, etc can play ro-sham-bo for whatever is left.

that said, OpenTx is epic... and in terms of what the sytem can do, and not about only hardware quality, then that changes things.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's good to see different takes on what makes a radio great. Anyone know if the Hitec are actually manufactured in Germany?

Speaking of Germany, I forgot Graupner on my poll, but looks like I can't edit it.
