Harbor Freight F/F E-planes:

I posted this over in the Wattage Lightning thread, but thought it might deserve a thread of its own.

For those looking for an attractive little model for micro R/C experiments:

Was shopping at Harbor Freight today and noticed in the sale flyer that they had the little generic Graupner Mini Taxi type F/F electric model with a 14" wingspan and a 10 5/8" length (genetically related to the Wattage Lightning, but a single engine F/F and not an R/C twin) on sale for something like 7.97. The store people knew nothing about it and had none.

At the website, they had it for 12.99, here....

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=42619

I may call and see if it is really on sale there, too.

They also have the little F/F Skyhawk or a similar clone of a pod and boom, twin tail model for 12.99:

Which has been converted to R/C by the prolific sr71fan.......details at:

though you guys might like to know.

I got the little pod/boom model as a birthday present form a friend who's a FF guru. Flies great stock. I'll have to get another to try the R/C hack; gotta keep the first one stock...

Not that good of a flyer

I have bought and rc'd a couple of the Harbor Freight planes, they don't fly that well, even at 2 ounces. They fly great with nothing in them, including the motor and battery that come with it.

I found a better use for these little guys: I used the wings from 2 of the pod and boom planes for the V tail on a 010 powered 60" HLG. The motors will go to a small multi engine scratch built. The 270 nimh cells get added to an existing pack. The pilot goes in a Mini Bell. The 2 cell "charger" is used to break motors in. The canopy and tail boom goes in the misc junk box. The dog gets the fuse. I got my money's worth!

I have flow the pod and boom model (Skyhawk) F/F for a number of years and it flys great stock. sr71fans R/C version, remotored with GWS direct drive and rigged with an articulating boom, for yaw, and full flying stab for pitch flys well, also.

To each their own, of course.

I have one of the little pusher model coming looks like a nice toy for it's price. Seems to have nice reviews too

Might have to order another to make into micro R/C as well.

I got a couple of these and found the prop used on a gws motor from a broken drive makes a pretty good direct drive pusher.I am gonna test it on my Kolibri, hung under the fuse, between the gear struts.
