I'm thinking about scratchbuilding an Airbike out of CF Rods and Balsa.. Should be pretty neat..

Going to try for a GWS 350 on the nose and a 50" span..

Should look something like this when finished.

Here is where I got with the plans. This is the vector copy. This is a printout and then scanned, and then printed as a JPG. You can see that there will be several hours getting all of the double lines traced so they look good.

Your work looks much better and would allow you to take it to a Kinko's and get it enlarged and go to work.

Do you know how to setup a laser cut file? We could setup a wing in CAD and get a laser cut wing..

I was able to get more of the lines changed. I have not measured to have them spaced evenly, just put them down and will do that later if that's where this goes.

There are some folks out there who do laser cutting. I'm checking on having some things cut for me now. Basically the wing would be some kind of leading edge material and TE stock. The ribs are simple, but may need a few more notches in them for extra stringers and the like for a 50" wing. Joiners would need to be ply, etc.

Any way, you can see how this goes.

I have been thinking about trying to do it fairly scale... I think the wing attachment points may be easier in a scale like manner.. On the full scale the wings are actually still 2 seperate halves... which are connected to a "boom" in the middle.. I may or may not do that..

A wing would be simple to make.. something like 1/4 stock shaped for a leading edge would work I would think..

That looks pretty good man. Never seen that design before..

Well, I'm sure Mike would cut them, but I don't want to bog him down with the design aspect.. I am trying to get decent on CAD and see if I can design my own wing.

Should be super simple.. A leading edge.. a stringer across the front1/3 of the rib.. a main top and bottom spar, a rear stringer(maybe top and bottom) and then a trailing edge...

I don't know the term.

This is the wing from my Citabria plans. It is a simple one and when you were saying what you wanted, I thought of it.

Just have it enlarged to the 50" you want and begin! That's about how I did with my Bird Dog. Kinko's can enlarge almost any pic to that size. You may want to have the wing printed as two sections so the charge for the paper won't be so big.

I have done several things that were on a single sheet. Check it out!

I walked in from cutting Pitts kits to find that my friend Jeff was going to try to scratch build an Airbike. Well everyone knows Jeff just can get laser cut kits built so i thought he might need some help. LOL J/K I did draw some of the airbike up which took all of about 25 minutes. LOL Im sure i will be cutting Jeff a jig and wing kit so he can get this thing built. Unless he still wants to scratch build it.

Man! I was looking forward to watching Tram struggle to learn how to work a CAD program, and you guys are doing all the work for him! You're spoiling the kid!

Or, is he management material? Looks like maybe he's done a great job of delegating, and has a whole team of qualified people to do the work that he will ultimately get credit for...
