THERMALING 4 BEGINNERS--Help area - Page 34

Well, the winds were about 10-15mph today faceing aprox. tward the "slope", so I went up there to try to slope my Bobo' once more and no luck @ all form the hill.
Its just too rounded off and flatted @ the top to get an updraft. maybe in 20mph winds, but my Bobolink hovered enough in 15, lol, so i wouldnt try it in 20.
But i did manage to get some goo hight off a tree line to the right of the slope! Sloped good there, but its a tad far down the hill and off to teh side so i wasnt comfy flying my skinny Bobo' that far out and that low twards the trees when the breeze died off a little.
So the hills a dud

But the tree line isnt! so I can still slope off that when ever I get up teh nerve again

We are going all over. We are starting in the north. We fly into Auckland and go to the far north and then down to Rotorua and Wellington. We will take the fairy across between the islands. Then we will go down to the lower west and back up the west coast and around to Christchurch. That should cover most of the country.

I've read Torrey Pines Gulls' "Fred says: When To Launch" ( http://www.torreypinesgulls.org/Launch.htm )but anotehr article with a slightly different view and more facts wouldnt hurt me @ all!
