[RCSE] ALTi aka LoLo

Given the ongoing Picolario vs. Skymelody skirmish, I thought I'd remind
folks about the silent and far less capable device, the ALTi, also known
by its original name of Lomcovaks Logger (LoLo).

I just received my second ALTi today from Sheldon at YnT. It's a BF
model for 55 minutes at 0.1 second altitude logging, which will cover
most of my flights! Given that I now own two (I also have the standard
capacity model which lasts about 14 minutes at the same rate), I think
I have earned the right to sing their praise a little.

Yes, the ALTi only logs altitude, and it doesn't talk. After the flight
you can download to a computer to review the flight. I bought an "Ultra
Portable" computer (3 lbs and +8 hour life) partly for this reason.
I've also picked up a Pocket PC (PDA with attitude) recently, and a
serial cable, and I am looking at making it ALTi friendly (I know more
about computer electronics than sailplanes).

Sheldon at You Need This uDesign (YnT) can hook you up with an ALTi.

While you're there, check out his other items, like the BC6 (which I
also have). Sheldon is easy to get a hold of, great to deal with,
and provides good support.

The biggest problem I have experienced with the ALTi is deciding if I'll
sell the standard one now that I have the larger capacity BF!
