Shrike Update
There's so much floating around about the Shrike that I thought I'd let you know a few FACTS about what is or isn't.
I am hoping to be able to ship the first batch of kits as promised in June. I don't have a definite date at this point. But I will continue to update progress on this list. Fuselages are currently being produced and component parts are being ordered for the short kits. I just spent the weekend with Harris working on some production fixtures which will take some of the more difficult part of construction out of the builder’s hands. The fuselages will be pre drilled for the wing rod, and the wing actuator linkage. There will be two wing options. One will be for those that wish to sheet with Obeechi or 1/64th ply skins and those that plan to bag with glass and or carbon. You will need to let me know which wing you want when your confirm your order with a check. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY AT THIS TIME. PLEASE WAIT FOR ME TO NOTIFY YOU. I will contact you when your number comes up. I currently have requests for over 100 kits. If you have not contacted me and wish to be placed on the order list please send you requests to me at: skykingrcproducts@earthlink.net. I still have not decided if I will cut foam V tail cores or simply provide a plan form for a balsa tail which is what the original Shrike used for the V tail. Harris as designed an even more efficient wing than the one used on some of the earlier Shrike's. The kit will include the newer wing section cut from Highload 60 Dow Blue foam. This will be a 54" wing. The wing will be predrilled for the installation of the brass wing tube as well as cut for a sub rib to support the tube The tail boom will be made of wrapped carbon and will be predrilled for the tail pins. The wing actuator hardware is laser cut from Delrin. The model will continue to utilize Harris's trademark aluminum servo mounts. This is not a beginners kit nor a plane for the new pilot but for those that have some building experience this kit will make a lot of people happy. If you have questions, please e-mail me directly, not via this form. Ed |

Yeah, buddy!!!!!
"I have a friend of a friend who's cousin is gonna be selling all carbon, hollow-molded shrikes for $1,200 out of his van. It's an old white Chevy that used to be an ice cream truck. If ya see him at your slope, tell him to hook you up." Thanks Skyking for the update. Cant wait

Hmm....not that far fetched. I have seen a carbon hollow molded Shrike. It flies very very well, and the finish on it is a thing of beauty.
I can't for the life of me remember whose it was, but it was at Torrey. |

Nathan, it was more of a joke on the shrike rumor mill. Mutiple versions, this guys makin' this, that guys selling that.....ect. See shrike clarification . #1 in particular. That thread, along with this one by SkyKing sets the record strait for those of us who want this plane BAD!! I'll bet that carbon version was sweet. |

Sometimes rumors fly faster than the planes themselves...

Here's a shot of my Shrike 60 Carbonara.
Wicked fast no drag airplane. A masterpiece. Still one of the fastest 60 planes. May have been the last one Harris made. This one rebuilt after a radio failure and subsequent impact at high speed with Eagle Butte lava rocks. Double and triple lapped guys at the last few Northwest slope races. Its fast cuz it is 37 oz dry and it usally flies with 10 oz. ballast. Not 24 oz like the light short wing Torrey shrikes . I just saw a pair of Shrike wings the Winch Doc made---extreme blades with less than half the wing area of mine. Radical. Should be fast if he can find enough lift. Paul |
