EPP PSS Showcase!!!

I have a real interest in PSS in general and EPP PSS in particular. I love to scratch build PSS in foam. I know a number of people in So. Cal. that share that interest and I am curious about how much interest there is world wide? If you really love to scratch build PSS and you use foam, post a picture of your pride and joy here. Give some background; size, weight, why you picked that one. We should get some good reading and eye candy out of this one.

I will start it off with one of mine. It's a Hellcat (of course). 48" WS; 55 oz., 22 oz. wing loading, RG 14 airfoil. Hellcats have been my favorite warbird as long as I can remember, so it is no wonder it was my first choice for a PSS. BTW, TAWG r e a l l y likes this one. (or so he said after the warbird races at Lt. Mt. a few weeks ago).

Let me hear from you,

Rich

Here's my first EPP PSSer. It was my first PSS plane and taught me all about the magic of tipstalling at low speeds. Has some kind of weird glitch problem so I've pretty much stopped flying it, but I had one great day with it a few months back at Rocky Point where it was doing the biggest pumps of its life.

From the Patton Aircraft kit, 32" wingspan, 11oz. AUW, flies awesome with about 2oz. of ballast. Chose the -51D because it's my all-time favorite powered plane, and chose the "Ole Yeller" scheme because that plane used to be stationed at my old local airport (Torrance, CA), in my boss's hangar (Great American Aviation). I worked as a fueler and got to see Ole Yeller every day!

Amazingly durable, this thing has crashed so many times due to the glitch problem mentioned above that it's not even funny. Still flying OK, though it's much more wrinkled than in the picture above

Here's my own best effort to date. Brian Laird cut the kit for me as a special order.

Good grief that's a pretty plane! Almost a shame to fly it, it looks so good.

This has been the most fun so far.... the next one I build will be the NASA color scheme....

My next steps will be to get the canopy correct, and then add the accurate panel lines.

Anyone that has flown with me in the last year knows how much I like to fly this yellow thing.
