David. I need to see more pictures of the Seaview. Just excellent as usual and I didn't know it had an interior but it shouldn't surprize me.

Gilly is out of surgery and doing great. Just back from the hospital. Had 2 hours last night. Must take one of those little slices of death now.

........................... and the only way to transport my 7' 2" long Surcouf.
This is a compressor ballasted system and has .22 blank firing main armament for added effect!
You get some strange looks on UK highways I can tell you!!!

Chris,

Very nice work! Is the Surcouf scratch built. You don't often see one of these.

You might want to check out this new film coming out:

Be sure to watch the trailer. Looks real good.

The hull is one of three that I know of that were produced in the UK. The chap who did the moulding is not known to me. I believe it is the only one in existence in the UK though I am open to anyone telling me of others. I think I can say that no other in UK exists with the blank firing main guns! The hull is the only real 'commercial' piece with the rest being 'as you go along' so to speak.
It was originally set up for Freon gas operation from a refillable cylinder (de-canted from a large refigeration top up bottle) but due to costs originally, and then the banning of CFC's etc it was altered to a twin cylinder compressor (for smooth operation with opposed pistons) which was scratch built. A lovely beast when on the water but oh so easy to damage when moving from workshop to car. At 86" long you are looking at one end while blindly hitting the other on the workshop door!!!
Worth the grief and all the trimming hassle when on the water though!

Nice pic of 'her' on the latter site!
I want to know why Dr Robert Ballard and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute couldn't be persauded to find her, but having read James Rubridgers account of how he considers she was lost due to American B17 bombers (Who Sank Surcouf) and not her being struck by the feighter 'Thompson' might explain it!!!

Howdy,
New to this forum, been a SubComm member since '98. Attached are some pics of my 1/96 Seawolf. Currently have a Trumpeter Kilo, a Dumas Akula and another US Nuke on the ways.

Chris,

Welcome to E Zone. I'm also a member of SC. But started here first as I build and fly RC jets and planes as well.

Very nice Seawolf. Scratch built or kit?
Keep them coming.

Hi Steve,
Thanks! Familiar with some of your work from the EAM site, very nice!
My Seawolf is from ThorDesign, WTC is one of David M's 3.5 units, powered by a 12v 4.5 ahr. Currently looking to replace it with a homebuilt 3 inch RCABS style, probably powered by NiMH.

Thanks Chris. David's work is great. I have a bunch of parts for his WTC's here that will go in my scratch built Washington. Also 1/96th. Going to start on the hull tool next week. David has been a big help to me in my transition to subs.

Nice WTC you have there.

I have this one set up at the moment as std. (with front planes operated by one servo and the rears by another). However, have had another 'play' with the the linkages so with some mixing they can be set as U/W 'ailerons' at a later date; that is if the sub works well to start with! I figure that it could all go wrong if one tries to take on too much before trimming is achieved correctly. Its only just been finished so waiting for warmer weather.

Hi Steve,
Have to agree, David's work is first-rate. He has also been a big help to me over the years. He's also not afraid to deal out a swift kick in the pants, if needed.

Just be careful with the praise, I'd hate to see him develop an ego...

Chris

(just kidding David, glad to be reading your posts again)
