I'll add some more, here are shots of my subs, both stactic and RC:

Top to bottom : 1/100th scale RC Nautilus (scratchbuilt)
1/350th Typhoon (Dragon kit)
1/144th RC Kilo (one of my faves ) (Trumpeter)
1/150th U-boat (U-571) (company unknown)
1/350 Uboat (U-107) (Trumpeter)
and finally, the little yellow sub at the bottom is an RC sub bought from my local Radio Shack store!

I like it CaptainNemo12, the more I keep reading through this forum the more it encourages me to get to building. Thats one of my favs too, I always liked the 1/144 kilo. Is the 1/350 Typhoon kit rc as well. Some insight if it is would be appreciated. More pics......

Originally, the Typhoon belonged to my cousin, when it came to my hand, there was two motors and everything needed to make it motorized, but with the project of the Nautilus and Kilo, I kinda stopped working on the Typhoon.... it's currently a static model awaiting future commands....

New To Subs

I've been modeling longer then I'll admit to, building boats almost as long as I'll admit to, but am new to Subs. My first was the Dumas Akula, which worked so well that I thought I'd have a go at building the CSS Hunley.
The Hunley design is based around the intrals from the Akula. The hull was vac formed from styrene, and all the external power and control systems were fabricated from brass and aluminum. The dive plane actuating systems were also from the Akula, and the prop is from the Dumas Jersey City Tug. I'm still working on trimming the Hunley, getting the dive planes set up just right, but so far so good. For now, it's so cold out there I don't feel much like wading around in the almost frozen pond, so will resume testing once things warm up a bit.
I must say though, that running Submarines is just about as much fun as a guy can have, where model boats are involved!

Very nice Pat!! Why don't you start a new thread on this one so we can see how it all came together?

Keep having fun and Merry christmas!

Steve, There's a whole construction thread over in "scale" . I would have linked it, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. From now on I'll post my sub stuff over here.

Most torpedos and missles use some sort of compressed gas, usually airbrush propellant. Some torpedos are electric. Here are some examples, from Tim Smalley's site. One of the best sources of information is the SubCommittee.
