Bird of Time - electrifying hints

Hi all.

I recently bought a Dynaflite's Bird of Time kit. Living in a flat part of Italy, I would like to add an electric engine to this beauty. Has anyone of you already done it? What combination of electric motor/controller/battery did you use?

Many thanks for your help

I've been eyeing a Bird of Time kit as well, but have been hesitant to buy it because it's only a glider. Now make it a sailplane, and I might have to look again! I'll have to keep an eye on this thread.

Post this in the Electric Sailplanes forum, much more likely to get a response. I know there is a version of the smaller BofT that is made for electric motors, and have seen some posts on the regular size BofT in the Electric Sailplanes forum, so do some searching there and you may find what you need.

I have:

Keller 50/14SL +1mm ring, 12*6 folder, 10*1400SCR:

My friend flies one with a geared Johnson motor on a 13*7 Graupner and 7*3000CR Sanyo Nicads.

If I were to electrify one now, my choice would be an Axi 2820/10, 14*9.5 Graupner folder and 6*3300 GP Nimh.

I have flown one with a Keller 50/24 on 18*800AR's, that easily went vertical.

I have a "Bird of Daylight Savings Time" which is a 1.5 m wingspan version.
Had it for at least 20 years. Flies OK, as did the Full size one.. But candidly the Legend about it is stronger than the fact. Pretty though.
