Right now (it changes around a bit), the P-47 and the P-51 each have a MPJet 25/25-26. The Corsair has a speed 300. IMO, the Corsair is the best candidate for the 300, although they all started with a Speed 300 and flew well. I would like to have brushless in all three, with a speed 300 on hand for a drop-in spare, but I can't justify the expense (and Speed 300s are hard to get right now). With the 3 Alfas (that are showing signs of surviving my rather steep learning curve), the TM400, a SIG Scout, and a SS, none of them get the flying time they deserve. Eventually, I'm gonna have to get one of those job thingies I hear you civilians talking about, and I suspect that that will cut into both my golf and my flying time.

In responce to my post near the beginning of this thread, I was thinking of using the TP 2100 2s1p with the MP 25/25. If I can get away with using the TP 1320 2s1p on that motor, I will as I have those packs already. I have no idea how many amps these motors pull, so its a guessing game for me right now. I like both the APC SF props and the E props. I even think I have a few of the 9x4.7s lying about. Is this enough pitch or should I go with the 9x6? To give you an idea on how I like to fly, I am a scale type. Not a whole lot of flash or speed, just how the plane is designed. (unless the plane is designed that way, like my flying wings for example)

I have flown a variety of packs with the 25/25, Trickster. My best results were:

Corsair - Etec 2s 1200 - TP 2s 1320
P-47 - Tanic 2s 1500 - TP 3s 1320
P-51 - Tanic 2s 1500 - TP 3s 1320

I used the highly scientific method of asking Tahoecrest and Swamp Fox which prop to use. The only props I have ever used are APC 9x6E with the 2s packs, and 8x6E with the 3s packs.

Sarge,
I'm suprised that you don't overheat the MP25/25 with the 8x6 prop and 3s packs. I use a MA Electric 8x5 when I run a 3s pack and still have to be careful not to use to much throttle for extended times. i still found that it gets pretty hot and have since replaced with the 25/35 to handle the 3s packs. I also fly in much thinner air than you which helps.
HAPPY FLYING!!!

Tahoe,
Same here ..
Funny, we both deduced it was the thinner mountain air.
makes sense.Congrats with the 35 I have a MK2 today.

all : *25/25 is not designed for 3s packs.* (that's not coming from me)

Pat,
Just dry fit and dremel away what you don't need.my axi resides my P-51 different fit.Maybe explore a standard, behind fire-wall mount and "Long" prop shaft adapter.

Blaze,
He can go past me ..that's right were I want him ..
He might be faster but he won't catch me..

Unless he can carve turns 2' off the deck at 40 knots through the bushes and to grandma's house we go ...

Good Luck ALL !! ,

I have searched high and low on the amps that a 25/25 MP brushless motor draws on a given prop. Any help here? I will be using either the 2s1p 1320 TP or 2100 TP packs and if I am deducing everything correctly a 9x6 APC e or SF prop.

Trikster'er

http://www.mpjet.com/frame_en.php

there's an instruction .PDF with charts.

You'll be golden with the 25/25 2s 1320 9x6 SF.

start there ..you'll be light ,quick and safe. (amp wise)
allow ample cooling ..land after a WOT burst and check motor temp by stickin' yer finger on it.

I don't like low pitch props on alfa .give me 6 or nothing...

2100 2s mb a 8x6 "E" would do..

the thicker "e" props reduce amp draw...

So is the 25/25-26 GB/motor combo that many are using here #20126 (or 20127, I cannot see the difference) on the MPJet website? It is the Mk2.

only diff the # 's you posted is one has the cables..one does not,,

and it's the mk2.

do you have a MK2 ?

I think the only difference is the mk2 can handle a little more V

still has 15a max

Swamp and Tahoe,
I may, indeed, be pushing the 25/25 too hard with the 3s packs. The only check I have done is to touch the motor when I land. I still don't have a lot of experience with brushless, as these two are my first. They are cooler than ny TM400 motor on 3 cells. I didn't intend to recommend that set-up, as I've read of others fried motors. Part of my good luck so far may be my flying style. I use the minimum throttle to accomplish whatever I am working on. Until I am more comfortable with the speed of these things, I will have an agenda for each flight, so I tend to repeat manuevers until I get them right. Unlike Swamp, I am seldom 6" off the deck, with my thumbnail white from the forward pressure I'm putting on the left stick!

Thanks Martin,

Yepper, was time for Part 2. This Alpha Corsair generated a tremendous amount of input. And still going strong.

Thanks to all who contributed to the thread..

Thank you Jim,

Sarge,
You will most probably roast that motor. again,I did ...twice.Might as well go out like a man and put a 9x6 on there and drop the hammer...heh
good luck

Sarge,
When I was flying with a 3's pack and the Mp 25/25 the plane would loose performance dramatically almost as if the batteries were giving out. I imagine it was from the swelling of the magnets from overheating. I would then immediately land. The motor would then not turnover until it cooled for awhile. Never seemed to suffer any long term damage as the motor that I did most of the 3s flying with is in my daughters Dandy Sport know. The other is still in the P51 but have not flown with a 3s in this plane for awhile.
HAPPY FLYING!!!

What happened to me was exactly as Tahoe described, except there was some smoke involved

** 25/25 not designed for 3s **

No matter what prop ya use it's still not good, think it's a Voltage issue rather than amps. As on the second one i cooked ,amps were
in check...

Have fun !
