Post your Century Heli conversion info here

Trying to see what works for everyone. I have done 3 and made may kits for you guys doing these conversions.

I have heard the Mega 22/45/3 does very well with 16 cells.

These are what I have done so far;

1) Hawk 3 SE with Aveox 1412/4 on 16 and 20 cells. Flew very well on 20 cells and OK on 16 (needed higher gearing)

2) Hawk Sport with High Torque 12turn and 16 cells. Needs more cells, KV is to low.

3) Raven CCPM 50 with Tango 45-6 and Joker 25t pinion. 2x4s4p 2000 lipo (unflown for radio programming only)

Predator Max Actro 32-4, Schultz 40.70, 12s3p tanicbatteries, 11t penion, 93 tooth main. Needs a little work on the gear ratio.

I've got a Hawk Sport with a Mega 22/45/3 as well. With a 23t pinion gear. But I've barely flown mine. I'm still dialing in the set-up.

What I want to hear is what pinion gear you guys are using. That's the one variable that I keep seeing that's all over the place.

I have a Hawk Sport with Phasor 45/3 and Jeti 40-3p opto esc.
Ultimate BEC with 40mm cooling fan on motor.
I use both speed up gears for 4 cycle set-up and 24t pinion with 16 - GP 3300 cells. Head rpm is around 1700 to 1800 (tach broke)
I'm using 515mm FG semi sym blades from my ECO16 and get 7+ min flights.
The motor is mounted with the shaft pointing down with Fred's motor mount and cells are in the center of the frame under the motor and are not visible from the side. (no pics yet). It flies very crisp for first 5.5 to 6 min and still stable at 7.5 min but I always stop at 7 min.
My century Gyro is junk but it's ok til I can get a Good one.
Seems to have fair power for pull-outs but could use more.
I like the Hawk Sport better than the ECO16 and have not flown the 16 in a few months. The Hawk Sport is a much better machine in construction and flying characteristics than the ECO16.
May go to 20 cells later but as of now the Hawk is very dependable and has no quirks, wobbles, vibrations or any strange things going on so I can just charge and fly.
I have over 400 flights on the Hawk Sport and very pleased.
The gears were noisy until around 50 to 60 flights and began to quieten.
Happy "Hawk Sport" Camper!!!

It Works!!

Hawk, Bell 47
600mm Blades
Mega 22/45/3, 1000KV
23t pinion
20 gp3300
phoenix 60
UBEC

Batteries:
I found the GP3300 really respond to a 5a charge, 6a would be the better! But it really starts to wear the cells. Then you have to monitor temps closer. I was only charging at 4.5a. But 5a makes a noticable difference!!

Performance:
Good power, good temps, great headspeed, and no bogging 5deg hover 9deg high. Flys way better than the 20t I had on there.

Trivia!!
And for piece of mind...... Hacker vs Mega..... The Hacker 15xl is a better motor in design, but from a performance point they are very much the same!!!!

Hawk Sport
Mega 22/45/3
pinions 20T - not happy with performance... trying a 23T this weekend
20cells gp3300 (soon to go lipo)
phoenix 60
ultimate BEC
carbon fiber main blades, tail blades, tail fins, and boom supports
CCPM upgrade

With the 20T pinion I had on it I found it to be very lethargic. I am trying the 23T tomorrow and will post results.

So James, Did you really like the 600mm blades? Did you have a chance to compare them to a stock Hawk 550 blade? What brand blades are they? And how much does your Bell 47 weight?

Blades make a new heli!!

I noticed a big change on my Bell! With 550's I was running 7.5deg to hover. With 600's Im running 5deg. The blades are the century wood blades for 50 size helicopters. They cost $23. The Bell weighs in just under 9lbs total.

If your lighter the 550's should be fine, thats what I run on my other hawk. But that 23t pinion is where its at right now on the 20 cell setups that's making the big difference.

Is there enough room on a Hawk Sport to run 600s without hitting the tail rotor?
