Get the kids interested. Bring out the easy to fly stuff and let them try. Then talk to the command about a "rc aviation day at cgas ecity" invite the daily advance and your a star. Your off to a good start and I wish that this stuff was available when I was there in 94.
God bless those still on watch

Never thought about that idea excoastie!!! I'll have to research slow flying models and make at least one so the kids & grown-ups can try. Hopefully some will get interested enough to actually get into the hobby. Snow owl, everytime I go to work I see that plane that begs to be made into an R/C version (dual 350? 3 blade?) will see . Here's pictures of my hack job on the Acesim's JSF.

Very nice workshop! In my time stuff from the tweat shop would be hanging all around (meters, soldering stations, heat shrink, ect)
Nice plane!, Glad to hear she put wheels in the wells and flew straight. Nice radio, mines 10 years old but keeps kicking. How many years you got in? I stayed for 8navy/12 coast guard and then it was time to go.
Going to cut the wings for my falcon this week and sunday I hope it will fly. Ill post pics between now and then

The workshop/computer room is at housing,in the spare room across the downstairs bathroom. Thanks for the compliments on the plane, yours look like is progressing nicely. Are those Ducted Fans from a GWS A-10? I see you got couple of projects around. I got 8 yrs in, 6 Army/2 Coast Guard, staying until they force me to leave Keep us posted on the developments of your HU-25 & good luck on her maiden.

Yes a10 fans, and thankfully a basement to experiment in. Estarter waiting for chrome yellow paint, a wally world glider that had a edf-75 gws fan on it. If you can, go for 20. Its nice getting that once a month thank you from uncle sam. Dont have to work now, just go to college via gi bill. No bills, cars paid off, may not have 72 virgins waiting for me, but the redsox are in spring training, the patriots won (or stole) annother superbowl, cold beer in the fridge, and aint no one from maintenance control calling me for the ready flight. At times it will suck, but in the end it will have been worthwhile. Best of all, I can write my own flight schedual (for rc)! Thanks for keeping the tradition going.

20 doesn't seem a bad deal at all. Coast Guard mission is more rewarding than the Army, I rather save lives than take them.

Amen. The time will go by fast. Use it to plan for when you get out, and you will be in good shape. Take the clep tests at the ESO and you'll be ahead of a lot of folks.

Well enough sermonizing. Off to build my falcon for now.

excoastie-
real perty albatross! Is that from a kit? What size, power. etc.
It's pretty far down the stack, but I'd like to make a Grumman flying boat twin, either a Mallard or an Albatross one day.

about half way down. These guys have all the toys that a guy could want. A couple of neat german planes (hortens)

not sure who makes the albatross, but hobby lobby used to have it.
I think the albatross is also a consideration for me, but not just yet.
