install the rotor with the spinner, run it up to about 1/4 power, if smooth continue until full power, if not stop, loosen the spinner screw, rotate the spinner only a few degrees, tighten the screw , try again. Repeat until it runs smooth at full power. Don't over tighten the spinner screw.

That will only work if the rotor is out of balance too. If it's good and the spinner is not, you'll need to monkey with spinner until it runs nice. You can use pieces of tape inside of it. BTW, it helps to index the parts so you can keep track of what you're doing. Especially when it works, then you want to be able to put it back

Herb is excellent at balancing fans. His jets are the quietest I have ever not heard.

Balance the fan first using bits of tape on the inside. Once that is done test run you set up. If there is vibration , turn the spinner 90 degrees and run again. If you are sure that the fan is properly balacned you will be able to balance the complete installation by moving the spinner. When it is balanced make a mark on the fan and spinner so that you always put it back together the same way.

You will need a magnetic balancer for that small fan!

You need to first balance the rotor, then the spinner on a good quality prop balancer. I use a $3 steel prop balancer from Prather. Both rotor and spinner need several small vinyl tape pieces on the inside to balance properly. I have run mine at 41+ k rpms for years.

I saw someone fly a Kyosho FV-1000 in Las Vegas. It sounded like an IC jet. Way out of balance! That will shorten the blades when it hits the shroud and it's bad for the motor bearings.

Spend the time. It's worth it.

Heretical as this may sound.. Leave it OFF.. In real use I've found it makes little to NO actuall perf difference if it's not used.
