Axi 2808/16 & 6-cell sub-c

I just flew my T-52 with an Axi 2808/16, grish 8x4 and an old 6-cell car pack, both 1400 and 1700's. One of the packs was so burned it will only give 1000mah out of 1400 at 3A.

On all of the packs, it flew very well -- got about 9 mins on the 1400's. I wasn't sure how it would work lugging those packs around the sky on only 6 cells, but it was quite fine. Climb was better than the stock 480+GB, and better than the axi on an 8-cell radio shack NiMH pack. I'm guessing they don't sag like the RS pack -- that one will hit LVC even fresh at more than 3/4 throttle.

Comment: I was a bit worried about low power but it turns out that this setup is quite enough for this 52" semi-scale Tiger Moth.

E-Streak : Mega 22-20-4, 9x6 APC, 8 x CP-1700 . About 26 amps Very good thrust...decent speed. Nice light setup.

Bandit : Jeti 30-3, Aeronaut 12x9 folder, 8 x CP-1700 About 34 Amps. Very good climb , average weight

Added 4-4-04

Simple 400 : 6v 400 w/advanced timing, APC 5.5 x 4.5 , 8 cells KAN 950. Cheap and sporty. Upgrade: Mega 16-15-4, APC 5.5x4.5 and 8 KAN 950. This moves. Very good performance and flight times too. Also tried a 7x5 APC and vertical is almost unlimited but throttle management a must.

Narrowed to 36" Zagi : Mega 16-15-4, APC 5.5 x 4.5 and 8 KAN 950's. Excellent performance. Will give 5-7 minutes of aerobatics with very good speed, or 10-14 minutes of lazy cruising. Would like to try a 6x4 or 6.5 x 4 for better vertical.

Comment: Wow! Super speed and pure unlimited vertical with the 3s packs, still very fast and *almost* unlimited on the 2s packs. The Formosa is a great flying plane and really comes alive with this setup.

Here'e my set-up for two of Jim Ryan's warbirds:

Both of these fly excellent with the Mega set-up. 1/2 to 3/4 throttle are all that's needed. Unlimited vertical and lots of speed. hand launches are a breeze; the practically fly right out of your hand. Even with the standard NiCd pack 5 min flights are the norm. Upgrage to Kan 1050's or 1000HeCells and you have 7+ minutes of pure fun. With a 3s LiPo pack your fun level triples.

Not quite true hotliner but definitely more than warm. Climbs out at 45 from the start or let it build speed for a second and rotate into a climb at 75 degrees. GREAT endurance with at least an hour of flight time left after hitting LVC. 7-10 climbs to 500 feet on a charge.
