But honestly, it's gotten to the point that I find that dealing with the HK quality just isn't worth my time and effort anymore. I'm now using mostly Tarot, Heli Option, OMG and genuine Align parts. But even a lot of the Align stuff just isn't good enough. The bearings can be notchy right out of the package, and the shafts are all undersized and that causes slop.

I actually just got some 10mm industrial shafting and will make my own mains shafts now.
So is the "HK450 CCPM Full Alloy" from Skya?

Getting ready to build my HK450 TT FBL. Parts are black. It's supposed to be a decent kit but I expect to have to tweak it a bit. I know what to look for now.

You know I'm just crazy enough to order the 700, but I don't have $200 burning a whole in my wallet right now. Maybe next year when it shows up in the USA warehouse. Then I'll shelve it like I do all my kits and slowly collect parts for it. It's my madness,

The OMG hub I got for my Trex 550 had been very good (the swashplate head button and arms are Trex 600N parts, got them on sale a while back)

At first glance it looks like a copy of the KDE hub but it's actually machined to be lighter like the Align 550 hub vs the Align 600 hub. Definitely similar but not a copy. Like the KDE hub it's also the same height as an Align V1 hub which makes it 8mm taller than the V2 hub (you need FBL linkage set A rather than B)

That's 25 minutes or less.

I use a PowerLab 6 charger and two 12V power supplies in series for 1100W and 75 amps.

I bought the charger and PS together for $242

A good charger is a MUST if you have a 700 electric.
I have the power lab 6, just don't have power supplies yet nor a generator.

Do yourself a favor and go 24V....It will work on 12V but is limited.

You'll be amazed.

Can you guys believe this? No thrust bearings?

I checked the manual throroughly, no thrust bearings.
Re-watched the "detailed" video on YouTube, he mentions "double grip" tail slider, which the older models did not have. Well the older models have thrust bearings.

Re-watch the video from 7:20. At 8:00 he mentions the awesome great tail boom bearings. No thrust bearings.

I am honestly deeply worried about this. Making cheap helicopters available to anyone, irresponsible people, new people to the hobby?! We all know what happens when tail grip bearings fail!

Why?!

I'm sure it has bearings in the tail grips.
It wouldn't even fly without them.
The force on the grips at 10,000 RPM would just lock up the tail pitch.

And the tail slider and thrust bearings have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Looking again...it might not have thrust bearings in the tail grips.
Looks like it may use the same system as the Trex 700 and just use a regular bearing and washer.

Not ideal but it has worked for years.

I was making a point there, about their lame marketing. They tell that this is a new and innovative model and then it doesn't even have thrust bearings.
No need to tell me they're separate things.

It won't be me who's flying this model with a tail like that. You've been warned.

And your credentials for issuing such a stern warning?

Hundreds of helis use that same set up.

I'm not defending it...I've never flown it.
I have however, flown lots of helis without thrust bearings in the tail.

That's a pretty recent addition to most designs.

And as for marketing hype? I'd say the price speaks for itself.
