F3B contest in Cal Valley See Official Contest Thread

***Please see the official contest thread above***

Hey All,

I have been thinking about how we have not had a Cal Valley F3B event in quite some time. How would the collective US F3B community feel about having a contest sometime in the next few months? We could all take over Ken's Place and setup the course. I would be happy to bring out my equipment and need to stretch some mono with my brothers. Perhaps a 2-day contest? I bet we could get in quite a few rounds.

-Aaron

PS- The last time I drove thru Cal Valley in July, the solar farms have REALLY flourished out there. I wonder what that will do to the already abundant thermal activity?

I'd be more interested in a clinic than a contest....If I could even make it.
I have a Airstrike winch and a battery, but my work schedule is always "in flux"....
And I would prefer not to spend $200 in mono if possible!
I'm just one person though, so if the big boys want a contest, then contest on.

Hey Target
Contests are always a Clinic..LOL
I view it as Negative Reinforcement .. you do it and say "Cr@p ,Well I won't do that again!! "
it just all depends on how you want to look at it..
In any event Aaron, I'm In ! !

If you build it..... I will come. :-)

Target..... F3B is always a clinic. Even when flying alone I learn.

I'm there...I've got three winches now, so that will help.

I'll even score it with f3xvault...

Brandon,

Come on out, and we'll teach you how. I use my precision, so I've got all the setup for ya...

Plus, Cal Valley is a really fun location to hold a contest. Everyone is staying at the same place, BBQ for dinner and right across the street is the field...

I am in, and I will put on a personal 1 on 1 clinic with Target, and any others interested ahead of time.

Clinic- for anyone interested in some one on one or small group time with me, please email me at d.james.klein at Geemail. or PM me here. No experience or F3b equipment necessary. You just need your plane, and TX, and know your TX if it isnt an SD-10G.

BTW, I'll help you setup and align yur winch well. When a winch is properly aligned and there are no burs or sharp edges on the turnarounds and the winch, mono lasts a long time. $25 should be enough for an entire weekend. That is probably our average now, one roll per day of hard use. Although it goes up with mistakes, and down with heavier line.

This is true. I spent a lot of money on line last year. I broke a lot through stuff like crossing the top and bottom line.

This season I have not broken much line. I have lost one roll I think. A roll of 1.22 mega that I used in fairly windy situation that had been heavily used on a practice day.

you can get unlucky with nicks and from cuts from other competitors, but if you have experienced guys offering to help you should be okay.

If you have not done f3b.

Depending on when this will take place, I would like to come out and learn. I do not have launch equipment but will $$ for equipment use.
Thanks
Dean
